Bmwolf21 Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 i heard a vicious rumor that at one point there was a 5 on 5 too. Unconfirmed. The referees will confer to determine the accuracy of that statement. Please stand by.
BRH Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008  Thanks Any time. There's been a lot more backchecking, and a lot less D-to-D coming out of the zone. Forwards are doing a great job all over the rink IMO.

Bmwolf21 Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 Fantastic win tonight. Let's hope it springboards us into a winning streak down the stretch, and gives the guys some confidence in each other.
FogBat Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 Florida beat the Rangers in regulation... Washington beat Atlanta in regulation. Buffalo demolished Carolina... I bet the Caps are thankful that we beat the canes.
BRH Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 125 penalty minutes tonight... Old time hockey! And as the boys in the booth pointed out, Mair had the Gordie Howe hat trick tonight.
FogBat Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 Fantastic win tonight. Let's hope it springboards us into a winning streak down the stretch, and gives the guys some confidence in each other. I can't say this enough -- we're going to need it. Nine of the last ten games are against division opponents (and seven of them are in playoff position).
R_Dudley Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 Fantastic win tonight. Let's hope it springboards us into a winning streak down the stretch, and gives the guys some confidence in each other.   I'm all for that I really am spoiled with rooting for my favorite team come playoff's and I don't want to consider the alternatives yet.... :chris: Ya got it done tonight BFLO now lets get r done again sorry Millbank love what the Laffs did to Philly but your not allowed to do that to us..... :nana:
ExiledInIllinois Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 I bet the Caps are thankful that we beat the canes. Yep, because they (WAS) have TWO ways in...
SabresFan526 Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 Are you really allowed to complain about a 7-1 win? You're probably not supposed to, but I will anyway. The PP was awful. I know Kotalik got a PP goal tonight, but we can't seem to do anything with these 5 minute PPs. Now, I know I know Spacek, Kalinin, and Connolly are not playing tonight, but we have got to be better than 1 for 9 against the 30th ranked PK. Second, where is Vanek? I hope he shows up tomorrow. We need this guy scoring goals. I don't know what it is, but at the start of the season when he wasn't scoring, the effort was there and he really wanted it. The last few games the effort has not been there for Vanek and nothing seems to get him going. We need a better Vanek if we're looking to make the playoffs. We need a crucial win and a Philly loss tomorrow. We're right where we want to be, but we need to convert tomorrow night into a win so as to not waste tonight's win. Toronto has been playing real well since the deadline. Overall, great win. The team finally showed some heart and passion. They need to do this more often. I'm ready for Weber and Sekera to be in the NHL permanently next year. I was impressed with his first stint with the Sabres, and he's showing something again this time around, too. I liked the effort, determination, and the fight this team showed. I just don't understand why they can't do this consistently. If they can finish off these last 10 games like they played tonight, we'll make the playoffs and maybe even make a run.
Hank Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 Sekera was a +6. WOW! Even had a couple hits...
jrsarkov Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 we just need to win tomorrow night. the PP was not great. Is vanek still on the team? :)
thesportsbuff Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 Horrible result, followed by horrible result, which leads to lack of confidence, and another horrible result. Then out of no where, a performance to pull you right back in again. WOW! DOUBLE WOW! :D
Bmwolf21 Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 --Sabres' defense looked like they followed the K.I.S.S. method - Keep It Simple, Stupid - and didn't do anything to get themselves into trouble. The young kids had a few mental mistakes, as expected, but the veterans (I'm looking at you, Lydman) didn't do anything stupid tonight. --Bernier and Stafford quietly had very strong games. Couple assists each, good physical play along the walls and in the corners. --Mair with the Howe HT. Very nice, Mr. Mair, and nice of you to show up in a big game. Handled himself pretty well in that scrap as well. --The kids. What can I say? Great job by all three youngsters on D. No glaring mistakes I can think of, a couple nice +/- numbers and just a very a solid performance by all three. --Vanek. Has anyone seen him lately? As 526 said - he needs to kick it into gear now. This is the stretch run. You really want to shut people up about the contract? Do it now. You get hot and help carry this team into the playoffs it will make everyone forget about your struggles earlier in the year. --Miller was solid, good positioning, no rebounds. Gregkash and ofiba owe him a beer for the jinxes. (j/k guys.)
wjag Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 We need a crucial win and a Philly loss tomorrow. We're right where we want to be, but we need to convert tomorrow night into a win so as to not waste tonight's win. Toronto has been playing real well since the deadline. Actually we need a win and two Philly losses to be right where we want to be. They have 11 games left and we have 10. Then we can go game-for-game with them. Either way tomorrow is a bonus game for the Sabres as the Flyers play the Bruins. Please don't let this be a three point game...
LabattBlue Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 Game thoughts... -Have to give credit to Sekera, Weber & Funk. Not bad for 3 guys who spent the season in the AHL. -While the Vanek signing may not be looking good at this time, Roy looks like a steal. He has put together quite the season and has quieted his critics. -Speaking of Vanek, the only line I didn't like tonight was Max-Vanek-Kotalik. -The arena crowd was great tonight. The goals plus all the scrums insured that everyone left happy. -Carolina quit early in the game and the Sabres could have piled up double digit goals in the power play was working. GO SABRES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GO SABRES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and because our powerplay sucked, did it seem like we were almost trying to get penalties to even it up short handed for both sides? it seems to have worked...
carpandean Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 -While the Vanek signing may not be looking good at this time, Roy looks like a steal. He has put together quite the season and has quieted his critics. I have always been a Roy fan and couldn't have been happier when they signed him long-term. He is turning into a great two-way forward with big roles on all special teams. If they can lock up Pominville with a similar contract, those two could lead this team for a long time.
ExiledInIllinois Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 Who fell down on Scott Walker's only CAR goal (SHG) (2on 1) just above the CAR blue line on the CAR clear out? That was a big boo boo... Must have had his ears ringing with ofiba's comment? :nana:
