Well, it's always getting darker before it gets pitch black. There's only one way to find out if we've hit rock bottom, and that's to watch the game tomorrow night. If there was any reason to rest Miller, it was wednesday's game. A) Miller is shaky right now. B) it will protect him from yet another shelacking. If the team in front of him is going to show no heart, there's no reason for lindy to play him. Maybe having your real captain sitting on the bench, where there's apparently not been a fire for a month or so, will spark something. Pominville practiced at defense today. No word on Connolly though. Tomorrow's game went from playoff fight to just simply interesting. We shall see what happens, but one thing's for sure, that team that showed so so so little fight on wednesday is still my team, just like the one that scored in OT in game 6 against the canes 2 years ago. Win one for the zipper!

Still only 4 points out of it, at this rate I will be happy if they make the playoffs alone. Philly seems to be stumbling as well as Boston. The spots are up for grabs all the Sabres need to do is refocus and get their stuff together. A little heart is all I ask for.

Maybe they need to watch this Inspiration

Given Lindy's comments about Stafford's effort on the shootout against NYR, it's becoming clear to me that the wheels have come off even harder than I ever expected.

I don't mean to sound all doom and gloom, but I'm afraid there's a lot more at stake here than just a simple playoff spot, and even if we by some miracle should squeak in, I expect the bleeding to continue in the off-season.

I mean, how do things get so bad that the coach feels the need to call out one of his youngest most inexperienced players in public for not scoring in a shootout??!

I'm not even worried about making the playoffs at this point, I would be happy with seeing the entire team actually look like they're trying to win a game.

As far as Lindy goes, his contract is up after next season right? I suppose if he can't turn it around then, maybe it is time for a change. As much as I like Lindy, maybe it's just his heart that isn't in it anymore rather than the players? Or maybe he's just frustrated and figures calling people out publicly isn't going to make things any worse.

I think a lot has to do with the players. Lindy has always had the heart and without the real leaders of this team, we've seen who can step up....and it's not many.

For what it's worth, the playoffs are looking bleaker & bleaker. Being 4 points out with 11 to go is not impossible, but they've blown chances over the past few months to either be above the 8th spot or right there. Based on the efforts over the past few games, I don't see how they can make it. I really hope I'm wrong, also.

I'll be there tonight. I feel good about the game. I think we will skate one of our better games of the year and when we skate well, we're really hard to beat.

ps. Mike Funk has been called up.

Been doing some reading today during break. Looking at the posts from last March, I'd have to say this one from DeLuca made me nearly fall off my chair...

As for the booing? I'd boo Jesus Christ if I thought he was lolly gagging across the water.

GO SABRES!

Something I noticed today....the Sabres, despite their perceived (and probably rightfully so)offensive shortcomings, are still #7 in the NHL in goals for total.

The problem, however, is that they are tied for #22 in goals against total. I'm not really a stats person, but I think that speaks volumes. We're still playing a run-and-gun system, only now we are getting burned big time because our defense is horrible (even when healthy) and our goaltending has been average and inconsistent. There are a lot of theories out there as to why the Sabres have fallen off, but to me, the goals for/against totals are very telling stats.

Wow finally made it back in.... I gotta admit that was a little extreme way to get rid of allot of the trolls. :D I hope I wasn't considered quite in that category..... a Horses a$$ for sure but not a troll. : :nana:

Anyhow I was at the game Weds here in Daberg and I have only been able to watch the games they have played against the pens and a couple others(no center ice). That was the worst I have seen them play and it did look like boys skating with men out there... Thats all I got to say about that because you all have beat them up pretty good...

For tonight and the rest of the season I will really be watching just a couple of things.

1). Who is coming to play and leaving it out on the ice. Miller said it best when he said they got nothing to lose and just need to start playing that way ....

2.) how Lindy handles some of the kids he's got up, the passengers and how he appears to be dealing with what he's got.....

3.) Will anybody stand up for anybody else on this team when one of their guy's gets cheap shotted or pasted....... Man it's like no matter who we play it's Sabre head hunting season IMHO opinion thats' because their just ain't no fear ort respect being shown this team by anybody else cause they ain't showing any for each other....

Thats it that's all I got... Thanks for letting me back in.... come on BFLO lets' see what you got

The goals-for total is misleading as well. I posted last week (and it's now long gone ) that we've been held to two goals or fewer in about half our games, but we've had a ton of 5+goal-games, which has padded our goals-for numbers. I'll have to recheck the numbers, but going into last week's NYR game it was something like 33 or 34 of 69 GP we scored two or less.

This year it has been very rare to see all three areas of the team firing at once, offense included.
