Now hear me out before blowing a gasket... :D

Look at it this way... Does Lindy go into "Belly Ache mode"... That meaning Bill Belichek...

Seems TOR MAY win v. the Pens... Up on the PITT team 4-2 @ the 2nd intermission...

Now... If MTL wins... They stay in the 8 hole with the NYR winning 6-3 v. the Cryers and TB MOST LIKELY win v. the Caps...

If MTL loses... TOR with a win tonight "leap frogs" into the 8 hole...

BFLO will most likely pick up 2 points somewhere in the remaining last 4 games... Well, I HOPE...

The question is, who would you most likely want to see in the first round... OR, get the inside track to the 8 hole? TOR or MTL??

Ah... The life on Bill Belichek!... :D <_< :D <_< :D

I wouldn't say heartless. It's just a damn near impossible spot. The Sabres often do the impossible though and are right in it.

What is with Adam Mair anyway? Guy gets three shifts a period, and there's nothing in the tank. All season, too. This is a game where we need the fourth line to get something done.

And what's with Campbell? Has he been dipping his stick in the Cream of Potato again? He hasn't played the puck cleanly for a week!

Maybe it is the way I skate?... One day I feel like "Rocket" Richard... The next day I feel like EII...

 ;) ;)

It is okay... Really... In true Sabre fashion, they ARE matching what others (except OTT) are doing tonight... Would have been good to salt the East away tonight though and really get the inside track on the Prez... But, that's too EASY for this team! :( :(

Oh well... On to PITT... 4 more cracks!

blame the refs, blame lindy for not preparing this team, whatever... they diudn't show their killer instinct tonight and it showed. by the way, the playoffs start in a week and a half, the lack of killer instinct is very troublesome. beat pittsburgh on tuesday and its all over, lose and there's some sweating in buffalo.

Can't fault the effort a lick. Pretty proud of them actually, and that's not typical for me after a loss.

Now if the Pens can come back and win in Toronto, things could get a little dicy for the Sabres with a loss in Pittsburgh on Tuesday.

Why sweat... All they have to do is win 1 out of 4 to lock up the East... And those teams are the Pens, B's, Caps, and Cryers...

Not bad... Maybe the Prez may go down the tube... Yet, they still hold the upper hand with that by 1 point and only DET has played the same number of games...

Maybe you mean sweating for the playoffs? Well, that is a constant...

I kinda want this team desparate for the playoffs!

Looks like it will be either TOR or MTL... With those rivalies... I would sweat no matter what!!!

Again... Why? BFLO has only to grab 2 points in the last 8 out there and things are locked up...

On paper, it looks a lot closer... Especially with the Otters winning tonight...

THE BIG HELP WAS BOS BEATING OTT BY ONE GOAL EARLIER THIS WEEK!!!!!

The only two teams that scare me going into the playoffs are Ottawa and Pittsburgh. These teams have got it together and they are playing championship style hockey - Buffalo has been lackluster. It amazes me how lackluster this team can play and still win against the majority of teams but they play like that against Ottawa and Pittsburgh and it is over.

I caught the last period and a half of the game. It seemed like they kicked it up a bit in the third period, but the one horrendous giveaway by Kotalik and bad goal by Conklin did them in. They seemed to have the desire.

What's a bit disturbing is they've lost lately to the "desperate" teams. It would have been nice to see them salt way Mont, just to send a signal they can play as desperate to be the best team in the league.

With all that said, I'm still not hitting the panic button. They had the backup goaltender in and Max should get back by playoff time. I think the Pittsburgh game will be telling. Pitt is hot right now and it'll be a good test to see what the Sabres are made of.

Only bad thing is we've got to watch the game on the Sydney Crosby channel, err Versus channel I mean. Since I'm in Tampa, I can't turn down the game and listen to the radio, either!

TOR just won in OT...

It would have been better if the PENS won in reg... Or TOR won in reg... The Leafs winning is actually the WORST outcome!

I would love to see TOR get knocked off... Pens are close but it is very tough to catch BFLO with so few games...

Grant ya... I would have loved if BFLO locked it up tonight... Then they would be playing for the nothing except the Prez...

Maybe losing tonight is a good thing?... No lackadasical effort can be excepted...

The Sabres are finishing this season exactly how they played it all year... Seems they always MATCH what others are doing and somehow stay ONE step ahead... The end is shaping up to be no different...

Unless they utterly tank against 3/4 NON-playoff teams!

Again... This just may make them mad (tanking)... And you know they will not continue that streak... Well, I hope not... Because it didn't happen all year.

Tonight... MTL tightened up the 6,7, and 8 spot and THAT is a moral victory IMO... I want that to be muddied... IMO, it helps the Sabres!!!

At this point, I would much rather have Kaleta in the lineup than Mair. At least we know Kaleta is going to throw the body around on every shift, and having watched Mair all year, I don't think we would be losing much, if anything, in either the offensive or defensive end...

The effort wasn't horrible, but it wasn't good for the whole game, either.

For some reason I missed the Stafford "would be goal" on the radio feed!

Was it a "kicking motion" and should it have been called off?

Definitely kicked into the net. No question.

Random thoughts on the game:

Should the NHL ask for the ref's salaries back? I mean seriously - four minor penalties called the whole game, and not a single one called in the 3rd period? If that is the standard in the postseason, it could definitely hurt the Sabres' chances...

On a side note, I don't quite understand the disallowed goal. Yes, it was a clear kicking motion - but Stafford kicked the puck from behind the net toward the front (likely trying to get it to his stick) and it hit the goalie's pad & went in. I understand, kicking motion and all, but shouldn't there be some exception since he didn't kick it straight into the net? Seems like the rule is very black and white, and that could be a gray area...maybe it's just me...

No-touch icing: put the damn rule in already. Half the time, these races for icing end up with two guys nearly killing themselves to get back, and then the linesman comes trailing in late. I would have been sick to my stomach if Lydman would have been seriously injured on that play, and Streit should have been penalized - hell, even fined/suspended. Any forward that does that should be - it is reckless use of the stick and someone is going to end up seriously hurt...

Good to see Roy took Lindy's advice about throwing the puck at the net...now if the other 17 skaters would take the same approach...

Weird night in the faceoff dot - Drury was solid, if unspectacular (12-22); Briere was 11-17 (65%?) and Roy was 8-15...Radek Bonk owned Roy and Drury, winning 3-4 from each, but was "only" 4-9 against Briere...

HUGE game on Tuesday against Pittsburgh...would be nice to lock it all up against Crosby and the league's new golden team...

remember, come playoff time you only have to win 4 out 7. Not 4 out of 4. Not 4 out of 5 or 6. 4 out of 7. That is barely 0.500 hockey... You can lose quite a few games and be declared the SC winner.
