Corp000085 Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 7pm The sabres haven't won on a saturday night in a LONG time, but i think they get the job done tomorrow. Tonight the sabres got up big early and mailed in the last 40 minutes or so. That's fine by me. I won't dog their effort after scoring 1/2 dozen goals. They're just saving it for the habs tomorrow night. Travel won't be a factor (montreal's a quick flight from buffalo). The canadiens are fighting hard for that last spot so this game won't be a gimmee, but just like the islanders tonight, a quick goal or two probably will put it away. There's also a chance huet could play tomorrow, which could be a major wildcard. Oh, by the way, the magic number for the conference is 2 points/1 win. That means that they win tomorrow, they're division and reg. season conference champs. That's some motivation to take care of business before the tuesday pittsburgh game. There's a lot riding on both teams, and i don't see the suddenly healthy and strong sabres losing. Just wondering who's gonna play goal tomorrow for the sabres. Wouldn't be suprised to see miller again. Why not just ride him out now till they wrap up the conference.
wjag Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 If Buffalo is looking for motivation beyond the Division and Conference crowns being delievered on the same night, then consider this as having a say at controling who you play in the first round. If Buffalo beats Montreal, they will put a dent in Montreal's post season hopes with just three games remaining. Unless Toronto beats Pittsburgh tonight, Montreal will still be in the eighth spot but will have lost back-to-back games against Ottawa and Buffalo. The door will be cracked open for Carolina and NYI.
MBD Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 I say start Conklin, rest the injured guys, and screw Carolina!
inkman Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 It probably goes without saying but Mohn-rheal Sucks!
Corp000085 Posted March 31, 2007 Author Report Posted March 31, 2007 DANNY BRIERE! DANNY BRIERE!! 1-0 sabres
Crestwood Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 SCOOOOOOOOOOOORRRE!!! Great passes from Numminen and Hecht find Briere, who snaps one over the glove of the Canadiens' goaltender.
JujuFish Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 Woohoo Danny Briere! Always good to score the first goal.
Bmwolf21 Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 OK, who else nearly dropped some fruit in their looms when Lydman went crashing into the end boards on the icing? Is it time for no-touch icing to make its way into the NHL? SCORES! Briere gives the good guys the early 1-0 lead...
Crestwood Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 Is it time for no-touch icing to make its way into the NHL? I don't think we need to go that far, but there need to be penalties called on such plays. How could they have missed it? Wow, the Sabres' PP is now tied for 13th in the NHL. That's quite a change.
richjk21 Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 The webcast of the sabres broadcast isn't working :( ... sucks listening to the Habs homer announcers!!
JujuFish Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 The webcast of the sabres broadcast isn't working :( ... sucks listening to the Habs homer announcers!! You can listen on wgr550.com, or put the following URL in a media player: http://webclust1.liquidcompass.cc/entercom...reamasx_WGR.asx
Stoner Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 The webcast of the sabres broadcast isn't working :( ... sucks listening to the Habs homer announcers!! Welcome Rich. Great avatar. Fushetti will like it. Where did you get it? Nice start for the Sabres, but the Habs started to come on late. Some nice saves by Conklin. Can't blame him on the deflection. :) Damn that PP -- if only Vanek could have converted...
Corp000085 Posted April 1, 2007 Author Report Posted April 1, 2007 i'm listening to the game and don't have the advantage of watching it on tv, but from what i gathered: the sabres were just holding their own, got a 1 goal lead and let it slip away. There's 2 periods left, and this is where the sabres will show their depth. both teams played last night, but the sabres are like 3000x deeper than the habs. play the 2nd like they played the 1st last night.
Corp000085 Posted April 1, 2007 Author Report Posted April 1, 2007 so, are we getting jobbed by the refs, as it seems, or do we just suck tonight?
ExiledInIllinois Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 Is it the team, refs or IS it Conks...? BTW fellas, I had this posted in the L column... :bag: Just the way the game was scheduled and being in Montreal... :bag: :bag:
Crestwood Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 I don't think you can blame the refs tonight for being down 3-1 (the way the Sabres are playing, it's justifiable), but they've definitely been favoring one side over the other.
richjk21 Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 Thanks for the welcome, and the link .... I was at work, and tried going to WGR's site, but it wanted me to register ..... I'm home now watching and listening to RJ on Center Ice. Thanks for the compliment on the avatar... I found it during the playoffs last year doing a google image search for Ted. Rich
Mr.Christopher Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 Wow a penalty called against Montreal. What a surprise. <_<
darksabre Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 buffalo needs a goal here to end the period edit: lol well, that was quick Roy makes it 2-3
Corp000085 Posted April 1, 2007 Author Report Posted April 1, 2007 lindy: chew some paint off of the visiting locker room walls, please? this is quite a heartless effort... luckily we're only down by 1 thanks to vanek/roy.
JujuFish Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 Vanek has been given credit for the goal. That gives him 39 on the season. 1 more and we'll have a 40 goal scorer again! It'll be the first since Miro scored 40 in the 98-99 season.
Stoner Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 lindy: chew some paint off of the visiting locker room walls, please? this is quite a heartless effort... luckily we're only down by 1 thanks to vanek/roy. I wouldn't say heartless. It's just a damn near impossible spot. The Sabres often do the impossible though and are right in it. What is with Adam Mair anyway? Guy gets three shifts a period, and there's nothing in the tank. All season, too. This is a game where we need the fourth line to get something done. And what's with Campbell? Has he been dipping his stick in the Cream of Potato again? He hasn't played the puck cleanly for a week!
