Corp000085 Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 5-1 after the first period. no need to dissect further
JujuFish Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 We now have 291 goals on the season. 9 goals to break the 300 goal mark on the season, and 5 2/3 games to do it in.
Bmwolf21 Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 bad refeering already, huh yet i finally tune the game in and we are on a 5-3....how bad could it have been? we need a new forum to concentrate solely on pissing and moaning.. Maybe we need a new forum for people to defend Bill McCreary & other refs who won't see any playoff games...especially for those who missed the first 6 minutes and a couple iffy calls...

SabresFan526 Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 I'm not able to watch it, so I'm listening. Man, it's a whole different feeling when you're listening instead of watching. You don't notice as much when watching, but boy, RJ gets so into these games. Now granted, I've been a fan of the Sabres for a long time and I of course have loved RJ for many years because of his energy and excitement, but when you can't see the game, you notice much more how much RJ gets into these games. Anyway, I think it's fair to say Drury's "slump" is over. He has a PPG and an SHG. The special teams has been fantastic tonight. This is how we have to play against playoff teams. It's amazing how good this team can be and how good they are when they are pretty healthy.
Wacka Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 I had to run around and got back home at 5:30 thinking I wouldn't miss much- I turn on the computer just in time to hear us make it 5-1! Holy Cow!

Corp000085 Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 I like just listening too i haven't listened to a game since christmas... RJ is a master of painting a picture.

I watched live the 3 goal comeback against boston at the beginning of the year... equally as impressive.

Corp000085 Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 I couldn't stand listening to those Leafs  fans any more...when i got here I couldn't believe my eyes leafs fans are the worst. can you imagine a bunch of raleigh fans with the leafs fans? that would be great
blugold43 Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 holy crap i just turned the computer on...5-1? 2 of them short-handed? wow it's great to have our team (mostly) back together.
Corp000085 Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 drury has 2 so far... but still, it was one hell of a period.
connee Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 leafs fans are the worst. can you imagine a bunch of raleigh fans with the leafs fans? that would be great They are so arrogant with no reason to be :bag:
Corp000085 Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 They are so arrogant with no reason to be :bag:  Losers since '67
wjag Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 Montreal 1 shot on goal in the 3rd period.. 1 goal now 3-2 Ottawa with 15 minutes to play.. Go Habs...
connee Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 Losers since '67 But they sell out every single game and have no motivation to build a great team. Even in the Harold Ballard days :bag:
Corp000085 Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 after 2, its still 5-1. it was a pretty boring period.

Agreed - he's skating harder and seems to be more involved in the play. Hopefully he is back to normal and is going to get hot before the playoffs start...
Hard Rain Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 after 2, its still 5-1. it was a pretty boring period. Maybe boring is good with a 5-1 lead.
SabresFan526 Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 So, here's a question I've wanted to ask. I don't remember ever seeing this, so I want to see if anyone else has. You know how in football when the game is completely out of reach, they put in the backup QB? Well, has anyone seen it in hockey where the game is so far out of reach that they pull the goalie and play the backup for the 3rd period or something like that? And, would guys like Mair, Paetsch, and Paille get some extra shifts in the third as opposed to the top 3 lines? I think it would be unlikely they pull Miller for the 3rd considering how quickly a game's momentum can change, but I've always wondered if a winning team has ever pulled a goalie because the game's so out of reach. Does anyone remember an instance this has happened?
Corp000085 Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 they never pull the starter in a blowout. mair, paetsch and paille will get more time, and possibly other line shifting may happen, but miller will stay in net.
Stoner Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 Agreed - he's skating harder and seems to be more involved in the play. Hopefully he is back to normal and is going to get hot before the playoffs start... Did you see him roar back on the backcheck in the second period. Dude can skate when he wants to. When was the last time... Jim Lorentz was at ice level for an NHL game, his last? A helmetless player scored a goal (Pominville's chance)? Danny Briere threw punches? The Sabres scored three shorthanded goals in a game? A Zubie and a Dubie played in an NHL game?
