There are very few things that really set me off. There are even fewer things that set me off in person. Blatant disrespect for my hometown by people that have never called it home? That covers both.
theesir Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 Maybe they are, but I think they have a right to be. The behavior of Sabres fans, on other message boards( yours was intended to slap them in the face for missing the playoffs) Good Luck next year. Good thing it's warm down there. Makes for much more enjoyable golf !! It would have been nice to take ya out first round of playoffs. Not meant to be I guess. The rest of the season is just a formality at this point. Ya'll come back next year !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PS Get over Buffalo fans. Wait till ya play Philly in the playoffs sometime in the next decade or so. WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY worse than us. and especially in person is embarrassing and disgraceful. I heard from friends in Raleigh (originally from Buffalo) how horrible the Sabes fans were during the playoffs, and the stories of those who traveled to Columbus this year are just as bad. I can't stand Leaf fans, but they don't come here pissing on our streets, throwing up on people and trying start fights all night long.... unfortunately we can't say that about many of the Sabres fans that travel to "support" their team.

Here we go again. Maybe it would be a good thing for the Canes to sneak into the playoffs and meet up with Buffalo again. I'd be interested to see how the tall tales of baby killing etc. can be made even more grandiose this time around by the Raleigh "faithful"

Carry on. :bag:

jad1 Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 Oh wait, never mind, the behavior of a#$^$#!e fans is OK because their OUR fans.... sorry for the misunderstanding. Carry on. :bag: No, it's because in every fan grouping there's bound to be a few bad apples. The majority of Buffalo's fan base though is, right now, pretty damn good. To characterize all Sabres fans as horrible people because of a few bad apples is utterly ridiculous. The NHL claims to have set an attendance record in January and February. Any coincidence that the Sabres played in weak-sister (attendance-wise) cities like Columbus, Boston, and New Jersey (who doesn't play in a real city) during that time period, and that these teams posted their highest attendance of the season thanks to those "awful" Sabres fans?

And by the way, we were in the same lots that people have been murdered in for football tailgates. Hypocrites.
inkman Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 Uhmmm, thats not true I can't blame the Leaf fans, it's hard to find a bathroom when your THAT drunk. :D

wjag Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 I like reading the Ottawa and Carolina GDTs after big game losses. I read the NJ one after last nights. I only lurk. Don't see any fun playing the role of the troll. It is amazing how consistent we are as fans. When things are going well, problems with the D and O get papered over. When the team starts losing, the whining starts. He's no good, why doesn't he shoot, I wish he was still on the team... These lists express the same sentiments across teams. Heck the Jersey guys were taking shots at Gomez (did you know they don't like him of late?) and they were harshly critiquing their 45 win goalie...
Claude_Verret Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 And by the way, we were in the same lots that people have been murdered in for football tailgates. Hypocrites. This is true. I had forgotten about that.
SabresFan526 Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 Heck the Jersey guys were taking shots at Gomez (did you know they don't like him of late?) and they were harshly critiquing their 45 win goalie... Yeah, they don't like Gomez too much, let alone their team as the arena is usually empty. But, that's not the point. Yeah, they don't like Gomez because his numbers have gone down tremendously, and he's a UFA this year. He's looking for a big contract, and knowing Lou he won't give it to Gomez, and the fans don't feel he's worth it. Criticizing Brodeur, on the other hand, is a little surprising, but they have lost like 2 big games in the last week or so if I'm not mistaken.
CSt6804 Posted March 29, 2007 Author Report Posted March 29, 2007 Canes fans GREATLY exaggerated what happened last year. I went to game 5. Not my first time in Raleigh, unfortunately won't be the last. I will never visit a regular season or playoff game there again. I did not witness the "claims" made by carolina fans. I did witness though 2 greyhound bus loads of Sabres fans from Buffalo for some radio contest disembark at the arena. They were not drunk or pissing in the streets. Nor were they starting fights. Most were there with their kids or friends. What upset's the Canes fans is the fact that we showed up at all. I asked the Canes next to us in our 100 level seats why did the local business's there not buy the remaining tickets ? He was very upset with that remark. I don't really know why. They hated the fact that we were there unless you were a transplant now living there. That's OK with them. So they took it out on the one's that went there. They will admit to this. They did to us. But yet they want some sorta respect ? They didn't play the games, their team did. I have no problems with their team. Unless you went and saw for youself it is hard to explain. We were quiet and minded our own business the way the rest of the Sabres fans that I saw there did. We shopped in their malls, bought T shirts from their store. Ate their food and generally deposited many Buffalo dollars there. Maybe a few Sabres fan gave back to Raleigh what we all got. We were treated with dissrespect every where we went. They made the same claims about Leafs fans. We've all seen them in our arena. It is what it is. They just don't know how to deal with it yet. Yep my comments were meant to be a slap in the their face. And yep it still get's em going. They really should be upset at their management not us. It would have been easy to not sell the tickets outside their area. Give em away to radio stations or something. But nope they want the almighty dollar.

scottnc Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 I just don't understand the impulse to go trolling other teams message boards. For the most part opposing fans are unwelcome here except for a select group of people who actually like intelligent debate, so why the shock that they were less than receptive on their boards? Then of course it spills over here. Who cares what their fans think.

For the most part opposing fans are unwelcome here except for a select group of people who actually like intelligent debate, so why the shock that they were less than receptive on their boards? Then of course it spills over here. Who cares what their fans think. Exactly. Remember that Cane fan Goathead or whatever. He sounded friendly at first then as the series went to 7 games became a troll. Then the night the Canes win the cup he comes to our baord to make a few snide remarks. If the Sabres ever when a Stanely Cup, the last place I going to be is over trolling at the oppossing teams site.
will Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 If the Sabres ever when a Stanely Cup, the last place I going to be is over trolling at the oppossing teams site. but can you say the same about CSt6804? sh!t happens. it's just up to the thoughtful and intelligent hockey fans on each team's respective messageboard to identify the trolls and treat them accordingly by ignoring them. it's the very few a$$hats that feel the need to rub it in, and every team's fanbase has them. no big deal, just shrug 'em off and carry on.

Supersabre Posted March 30, 2007 Report Posted March 30, 2007 First of all all I can say to the Canes fans is :nana: . Every team fan base has its share of a few bad apples. But for the most part it is not a reflection of a hockey teams fan base even though the few bad fans get most of the bad press or leave a bad impression with another cities locals. I guess I am of the mind that the vast majority of the Sabres fan base are very good, decent and respectful fans. It's the small minority that cause most of the problems for the majority of the true blue Sabres fans.
