bills_fan_in_raleigh Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 Looks like canes are going to not make playoffs , nothing could be finer than to be in caroliner......
carpandean Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 Would have liked to get some playoff payback, but I guess them missing out entirely is revenge enough.
RayFinkle Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 Would have liked to get some playoff payback, but I guess them missing out entirely is revenge enough. It was Marty who helped to put the first nail in their playoff coffin tonight....he played a great, great game.
kingcongkorab Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 I love it when the Canes lose. I thought Tripp Tracey was going to weep openly after tonights blow out by Philly.
slapshot1619 Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 I think that was Marty saying "there you go boys don't worry about these shmuks. Worry about us (flyers)next year!" :D well maybe not next year, but I think they'll be the Pittsburgh of next year.
Kristian Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 Would have liked to get some playoff payback, but I guess them missing out entirely is revenge enough. What better way to emphasize that their cup win was a fluke?
eball Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 I still really want the Canes as a first round opponent, but I won't shed any tears if their "Cup defense" consists of failure to even make the postseason.
Assquatch Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 Looks like canes are going to not make playoffs , nothing could be finer than to be in caroliner......   :D
USMCBillsFan Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 I want the Canes in there. I was making plans to take my son to at least one game in Raleigh.
Claude_Verret Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 I haven't made a peep about this yet at work or to my friends and neighbors. But you can be damn sure that when / if they are officially eliminated that all those die hard "caniacs" that gave me #%^$#! last May and haven't been heard from since will be getting an earful from me.

Don't forget to use the words "overrated" and "fluke" a lot :D
HockeyFan T Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 Looks like canes are going to not make playoffs , nothing could be finer than to be in caroliner...... Great coaching decision by St. Pete to start the olympian Grahame instead of Ward. It's hard to win games when you've got a pylon playing net. I guess Grahame earned the start the other night by letting in 3 goals on 6 shots to the Capitals. I want the Canes in the playoffs this year too just so I can see more live Sabres games.
ExiledInIllinois Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 Don't forget to use the words "overrated" and "fluke" a lot :D And if the Candy Canes actually do miss the playoffs... Be sure to mention "first time in history" both SCF's teams have missed the playoffs the following year... Even worse because hockey has always gotten the rap that "everyone makes the playoffs"... Just forget to mention that there are 30 teams now... ;) ;) :D :w00t: :D

Hey bandwagon, IF the Canes were MY 2nd favorite team, I'd want to see them in the playoffs because I actually give 2 figs about them. I wouldn't be saying I only want to see them in the playoffs so I could watch my FAVORITE team (at least until the favorite starts tanking, then I'll have to choose another favorite). I guess being a "Caniac" wore off as quickly and as easily as switching your handle. <_<

Unfortunately, you have quite a good memory! :bag: After much debate, I have actually revised the "My 2nd favorite team" term to "the local team that I root for when they aren't playing the Sabres." I guess bandwagon is deserved as far as the Canes go. I support them not because I'm such a Caniac, but because I like having hockey here in Raleigh and for the most part they are still a pretty entertaining team made up of good guys. I'm happy they won a cup and that I got to see it. I'm not happy that it came at the Sabres expense and that's a major reason why I sold my tickets to games 1 and 2 of the SCF last year (something I never would have done if the Sabres were playing). But just like last year, if the Canes win, great! If they lose, I'm over it by the time I leave the arena. Go Sabres!
Bighph Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 I still really want the Canes as a first round opponent, but I won't shed any tears if their "Cup defense" consists of failure to even make the postseason. I will. I had to fly a :censored: Hurricanes flag in front of my house last October because we lost and I bet on Buffalo. If they can sneak into the 8th seed, I will: 1. See a game in Raleigh with my buddy the 'canes fan 2. Spend all summer looking for a Sabres flag without the University of California Santa Cruz logo on it 3. Get pictures of the SABRES flag in from of his house in October of this year :) So, for the next 11 days, I'm pulling for Carolina. I can't believe I just said I'm pulling for Carolina. I better go see a shrink!

So should he have started Ward, who gave up nine goals on 43 shots in his last two starts (five goals on 19 shots against Toronto, and four goals on 24 shots against San Jose)? Fact is that this year, Cam Ward has not been the same goalie that played out of his mind for most of last year's playoffs... I agree that he hasn't played as well as in last years playoffs. The loss of Aaron Ward and numerous injuries to the D have also contributed to his inconsistent play. He is also coming off an injury, but even if he were only at 75%, I'd take him over Grahame any day, especially when they need wins. Wow. When Dave starts taking shots at you like this, then...wow. :nana: Wow, indeed!
inkman Posted March 30, 2007 Report Posted March 30, 2007 What better way to emphasize that their cup win was a fluke? I'd love for the Sabres, Bills, or Red Sox to "fluke" their way to a championship anytime.
ExiledInIllinois Posted March 30, 2007 Report Posted March 30, 2007 I'd love for the Sabres, Bills, or Red Sox to "fluke" their way to a championship anytime. Well, the Red Sox already did (2004)... 1/3 of the way there Inky! The city of BFLO doesn't have that kinda horseshoe up their arse though... :nana: :nana:
Samson's Flow Posted March 30, 2007 Report Posted March 30, 2007 I'd love for the Sabres, Bills, or Red Sox to "fluke" their way to a championship anytime. well the sox earned their way into one a few years back. remember that one? and it wasnt from some "horseshoe up their ass", they got huge hits at key moments and dominated the evil empire for four straight games with great pitching and an explosive offense. It was clear they deserved to be there when they swept St. Louis in the WS. If only buffalo can do that this year, minus going down 0-3 to their rival. i can pass on that.

Isn't it such a great accomplishment?... Wouldn't you want the Sabres to do it the same way? Kinda "tainted" in my eyes... ;) ;) The horsehoe up their butt was that the YANKEES were the only MLB team to ever blow this kinda lead (and rightly so... Just the shear number of times being there historically)... Sure sounds like a fluke to me! They choked... 50 more teams, 50 different talent pools on those teams, and 50 more years... A team won't blow that kinda lead again in the MLB... Again, sure sounds like a fluke, choke job, whatever! The fact of the matter is the good guys, classic champions, baseball heros quit playing and took it for granted... See kids, never give up or the rude ones from Boston will finally win one! BoSox 2004 = Inadvertant Yankee sympathy phuck :nana: :nana: :nana: Bet you never heard this explanation before! :nana: :nana: :nana:

See kids, never give up or the rude ones from Boston will finally win one! Actually, the Yankees are not the good guys. They are the bad guys. The "Evil Empire". What ever you want to call them, they are not classic champions. This team is a bunch of mercenaries just like most professional sports teams, but perhaps the perfect antithesis of what team sports should be. Don't get me wrong, the Red Sox, this years version in particular, are no better. Baseball heroes? To you and the few hundred thousand Soprano's wannabes that live seemingly everywhere in my hometown, but not to anyone else that's for sure.

See kids, never give up or the rude ones from Boston will finally win one! I was with you up till this part...rooting for the Yankees is like rooting for the house in blackjack or like hoping that Brad Pitt gets the girl. As ink said, they are the evil empire - my two favorite teams are the Indians and whoever is playing the yanks... :nana:
