ofiba Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 Not getting ahead of myself but may have some business travel during the playoffs and dont wanna miss any games. Anyone have slingbox and whats been your experience? I have a slingbox located in my home in Tennessee and watch Bills games and Sabres games on it while I am at school (my family has Center Ice and Sunday Ticket :D ). Definately worth the money. The picture is obviously not as clear as the TV, but it is much clearer than you'd expect. For watching TV shows it is extremely clear, but less clear for things with more movement on the screen (sports). Also, you have control of the entire TV with a remote, so if you have DVR you can set and watch recordings from anywhere on the road. Highly recommend it.
Assquatch Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 This works well also, and is free. http://myp2p.eu/NHL.htm I use SOPcast. Choppy and buffers frequently for the first minute or so, then you're golden.
TomInAlexandria Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 We watched the Sabres-Devils game yesterday via Comcast's free NHL streaming and it worked fine. I should note that we used an iMac w/ Netscape 7.2 even though Comcast sys. reqts. say PC w/ IE required.
nfreeman Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 In my experience, the slingbox is better than nothing, but kind of a bummer to watch a game on. bottom line is that the picture is too blurry. You can pretty much follow the action, but you can't really see the puck or appreciate great plays. I haven't tried the online streaming options mentioned above, but I would give those a try and not just bank on the slingbox.
UnionAMG Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 The online streaming via MyP2P and Sopcast is a good last resort... but it is usually really blurry and not something to rely on. The games aren't always available to be streamed and its a crapshoot whether you will be able to see it or not. So if you can spare the extra 200 in your budget, I'd say getting a Slingbox is well worth it. I dont own one but my friend here in Rochester is from San Fran and has one there... get's to watch all his 49'ers/Giants games on the computer and loves it.

HockeyFan T Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 Not getting ahead of myself but may have some business travel during the playoffs and dont wanna miss any games. Anyone have slingbox and whats been your experience? The wife got me a slingbox for Christmas and I absolutely love it! The picure quality really has all to do with the internet connection you have at home as well the connection at the place you are trying to watch your computer. I recently switched my home connection from a Slinglink to a wireless bridge and with my laptop, it has worked flawlessly at hotels and at most coffee shops. I also have it loaded on my PocketPC and watch the Sabres games at the RBC Center.
