inkman Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 Here are my lines: Pominville-Briere-Hecht Vanek-Roy-Stafford Afinogenov-Connolly-Zubrus Paille-Drury- Kotalik Tallinder-Lydman Spacek-Campbell Kalinin-Numminen With a possibilty of Paetsch/Mair playing in place of Paille or possibley Lydman if he is still injured. I LOVE the possibilites of these lines. The scoring could come from anywhere.
Stoner Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 Isn't Lindy going to want that mucker/energy player that Mair represents? I don't see Mair sitting, but then again we have an embarassment of riches here, if everyone is healthy. I HATE the idea of sitting Paetsch. He can bring a lot to that power play, he's smart and he makes few mistakes. And, let's face it, he's the future. Gampy Teppo might not play another year.
inkman Posted March 27, 2007 Author Report Posted March 27, 2007 I'm with ya PA, and would like to see some combination of Mair and Paetsch on a line. But who would they skate with, Drury, Zubrus? Not to mention who sits? Kotalik? Connolly?

I also see Paetsch sitting before any other D-man if we have 7 healthy and Connelly back - Lindy has been experimenting with Paetsch on the half-wall for th PP
Ogie Oglethorpe Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 Ink, I think you are pretty much spot on with the lines if everyone is healthy. I foresee Mair/Paille as the interchangeable parts depending on the "mood" Ruff wants to set. Mair has stepped up significantly with a larger role during the injuries. He skates, hits, and plays tough in the corners. He's also a bit offensive minded. On the flip side, Paille brings some of that same game, but where he lacks in the physical dept., he makes up in the offensive area. I also think Paetsch is still the odd man out on D. Significant upgrade over last year's 7th D-man.
Larry Playfair Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 The playoffs will, hoepfully, be a long road difficult road, so mair and paetsch will get significant playnig time. No team, especailly us, can stay healthy playing every other night for 2 months straight.
thesportsbuff Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 I can see Lindy using Paetsch as a 7th defenseman, powerplay defenseman, and 4th line forward. He's proved he can handle it. I also think Paille will be sent down if all are healthy.
shrader Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 On the flip side, Paille brings some of that same game, but where he lacks in the physical dept., he makes up in the offensive area. Not to mention the fact that he's a valuable penalty killer. It never hurts to have someone like that dressing.
SabresFan526 Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 I can see Lindy using Paetsch as a 7th defenseman, powerplay defenseman, and 4th line forward. He's proved he can handle it. I also think Paille will be sent down if all are healthy. I agree as well. I think Paetsch will see a lot of time in the playoffs. I think Teppo, Kalinin, or Spacek may get benched, or Teppo in particular, get a night off here and there if all 6 D-men are healthy. If all forwards are healthy, I don't think Paetsch will be playing up front at all. There's way too much talent up there to play Paetsch even though he brings a lot to the table on the PP. Also, I don't think Paille will be sent down for the AHL playoffs. Paille will stay with the big team and if he's not playing, he'll just be a healthy scratch. I think Mair and Paille will platoon depending on the games and the situation if everyone is healthy. I kind of the see the lines as follows: Hecht - Briere - Pominville Vanek - Roy - Stafford Kotalik - Drury - Zubrus Afinogenov - Connolly - Mair (Paille) (maybe Paetsch) Either way, we need to start winning some games, but it'll be real exciting when this team is completely healthy, knock on wood.
shrader Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 Are you suggesting that they'll give Teppo a game or two off to rest DURING the playoffs? He's played in all but 2 games this year. Why would they wait until the playoffs if they were going to give him the random night off?
thesportsbuff Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 I don't see any defenseman sitting during the playoffs spare an injury. But maybe they'll rotate Paetsch in a few shifts if somebody is having a bad game or something, and use him on the powerplay.
blugold43 Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 Here are my lines: Pominville-Briere-Hecht Vanek-Roy-Stafford Afinogenov-Connolly-Zubrus Paille-Drury- Kotalik Tallinder-Lydman Spacek-Campbell Kalinin-Numminen With a possibilty of Paetsch/Mair playing in place of Paille or possibley Lydman if he is still injured. meck20 Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 I agree that Mair should get the nod ahead of the youngsters and would seriously think of refraining from sending Paetsch into an offensive slot. If we run deep into the playoffs injuries are bound to happen so it would seem to be in the best interests of the team to use him more as an insurance policy.
Ogie Oglethorpe Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 nice work here, but i can't see lindy putting zubrus with two guys he's never played with before just as the playoffs are starting. Maybe switch Zubrus & Paille. That's an interesting 4th line. Even with Connolly at less than 100%, that's a lot of talent. Paille could end up being our leading scorer in the playoffs. Just sit and wait for the puck!

McJeff215 Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 What's up with Goose? I keep hearing he may be back during the playoffs? Any chance we factor him in here?
Ogie Oglethorpe Posted March 28, 2007 Report Posted March 28, 2007 What's up with Goose? I keep hearing he may be back during the playoffs? Any chance we factor him in here? I wouldn't count on him for anything. Maybe a late round surprise if that...
Foligno17 Posted March 28, 2007 Report Posted March 28, 2007 I agree as well. I think Paetsch will see a lot of time in the playoffs. This line grouping seems the best and makes the most sense with Zubs, Kotalik, and Drury starting to play together tonight.
Ogie Oglethorpe Posted March 28, 2007 Report Posted March 28, 2007 Freudian slip on your starting goalie???
Ogie Oglethorpe Posted March 28, 2007 Report Posted March 28, 2007 I corrected it! It's ok, we know you wear a special oversized helmet all the time.
cdexchange Posted March 28, 2007 Report Posted March 28, 2007 I likey too. I would switch Max and Stafford. I don't think Lindy breaks up the current chemistry on the R/V/S line unless they go into a funk at some point.
HurlyBurly51 Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 Ladies and Gents, your 2007 Stanley Cup Playoff Roster (barring any new injuries, of course): G1: Miller G2: Conklin D1: Lydman - Tallinder D2: Spacek - Campbell D3: Numminen - Kalinin D4: Paetsch F1: Hecht - Briere - Pominville F2: Vanek - Roy - Afinogenov F3: Kotalik - Drury - Zubrus F4: Paille - Connolly - Stafford F5: Peters - Mair IR: Gaustad Me likey! If Timmy were fully ready, I wouldn't mind trying him a little with Vanek and Max, and move Roy to the 4th.
