deluca67 Posted March 25, 2007 Report Posted March 25, 2007 There is a very real possibility that the two teams that have Sabre fans most concerned, Ottawa and New Jersey may face off in the first round.
sabregoats Posted March 25, 2007 Report Posted March 25, 2007 as long as we can get through are first round opponent that would be the ideal situation.
Stoner Posted March 25, 2007 Report Posted March 25, 2007 There is a very real possibility that the two teams that have Sabre fans most concerned, Ottawa and New Jersey may face off in the first round. I'm concerned about who we play in the first round! The Sabres are so ripe for the picking right now.
JujuFish Posted March 25, 2007 Report Posted March 25, 2007 Although they're the team that I believe has the best chance to beat the Sabres, I want to see Ottawa in the playoffs. It would be a fast, exciting series, and should be entertaining for fans of both teams. I hope New Jersey, on the other hand, gets their boring, trapping team swept out of the playoffs in the first round.
Supersabre Posted March 25, 2007 Report Posted March 25, 2007 I would want to see a Sabres/Ottawa series if nothing else for the gratification of watching Chris Drury get some revenge on Chris Neil that cheap shot artist and scumbag.

I am with PA on theis one they not playing very good seriously as well as they played for the last 15 minutes friday do you think they could take Toronto in a first round series? The need to get things fixed and in a hurry, doesn't matter who comes back. They let darcy camp out in front again last night to bad we don't have a banger on the team.

I'd rather avoid Ottawa early. Hate to admit it but I think they are in perfect position for a cup run. They haven't had the ridiculous pressure this year that I believe the Sabres have now inherited. Kind'a like Indianapolis finally winning a Superbowl as a 4th seed. The pressure was not as intense. They could just play their game. That's Ottawa this year.
Taro T Posted March 25, 2007 Report Posted March 25, 2007 I'm concerned about who we play in the first round! The Sabres are so ripe for the picking right now. Just like last year. IIRC, until they went on a win a a game lose a D-man streak they played pretty well. I haven't seen anything that makes me expect a short playoff run.

I haven't seen anything that makes me expect a short playoff run. I'm not expecting or predicting a short run. I am just nervous about the first round. A team that has been playing desperate, playoff hockey against a team that has been in slacker, preseason mode for weeks. I hope there is indeed a big switch in the Sabres room, but expecting a fairly young team that has never had the experience of winning Jack Squat in the playoffs to flip it is a dicy proposition.

I hope there is indeed a big switch in the Sabres room, but expecting a fairly young team that has never had the experience of winning Jack Squat in the playoffs to flip it is a dicy proposition. This team went to the Conference Finals last year with a team with essentially no playoff experience. These guys know what it takes to get there and SHOULD know what it takes to go the next 2 steps. And where players were replaced, I honestly believe the Sabres have replaced them with better players (w/ the possible exception of backup goalie, and if they go there they're in trouble anyway). I really felt heading into last season that the team was 2 years away from competing legitimately for Lord Stanley's Chalice. They had their learning to win season 1 year ahead of schedule last year, so I've moved my expectations up a year. Losing to a division rival that desparately needed to win a game doesn't worry me. Not when the team has a playoff spot wrapped up and realistically needs to only play 0.500 to wrap up the #1 seed in the conference. (Now, if they go down 2-0 in a series, I'll start @#$@ing bricks like the next guy.) Are there teams that worry me? Absolutely. (About 6 teams in the East worry me and about 4 in the West worry me.) Do I think I am more worried (and more importantly SHOULD be more worried) than the fans of the guys facing the team with Abominable Snot Smears on their shirts (sorry Apus, it's been a long time since I've used that one B-) )? Not a chance. While the Sabres don't have ANY obvious HoFer's on the roster (which is a major difference between the 2 teams), this team reminds me very much of the early 80's Eulers, and I really believe last year was the Sabres' '83.
