deluca67 Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 I'm going to come to Roy's defense a little here. I agree he's earned the reputation, and deservedly so on many occasions. At the same time, he has fallen MANY times without any help at all. He's a good player, but just doesn't seem to have a great sense of balance that you would expect at this level. So my thinking is... if he can fall just fine on his own, is it a stretch to think he'll fall easily when pushed/shoved/hit/tripped? :o There is falling down. And there is falling down looking like he just got hit by a car. When Roy and Briere flop they take themselves out of the play. Briere's flop was in the offensive zone while the Sabres had the puck. That's unacceptable. Then he had the nerve to bitch and moan about it to the ref. I would hate to see the Sabres lose a close game because one of these guys decides to pull a Mr Limpet and cost the Sabres a goal. The Red Wings coach stepped up and called put Hasek for this very thing. Hopefully it won't come to that here in Buffalo. But if Ruff decided to call out his Captain or Derek Roy because of this garbage I'd be all for it. No more excuses. Just stop it already.

Roy can fall just fine, ON HIS OWN, without anyone within 5 feet of him. He just does, 3 or 4 times a game. Yes he dives, but he's also easy to knock down.
McJeff215 Posted March 28, 2007 Report Posted March 28, 2007 Does anyone else laugh at the idea of fining professional athletes $1,000? Ouch, that has to hurt. Ramen noodles for the Briere boys tonight. Yeah, :censored: up, no? It's like that 10k fine against Ruff after the Sens game. Even that.... How the hell's that supposed to learn 'em? Jeff

Who was the old-time football player that would run all wacky? Elroy "Crazy Legs" Hirsch... Kinda like that... But these boys actually manage to trip themselves up! Now they got a rap... Ah, life in the ever moral and righteous NHL... Don't mind the x-check... Blame the guy for looking like a jerk falling down! <_<

Between the dives and his inability to stay upright it's amazing he can make it across the ice at all without hitting the ice. You admit it. "Yes he dives." Which is the only point that truly matters. He flops and takes himself out of plays. And sometimes he just falls. That doesn't excuse the flops. The flops are embarrassing and they hurt the team. Not just the reputation but also puck possession time and turnovers. Again... I agree... I just don't where people think it is like a switch they can turn-off... It is a bizarre style. Instead of just giving up on a play when they feel a tug they should try fighting through it. That's when you get the calls. It's going to hurt the Sabres at some point during the playoffs. The Sabres are going to be in need of a power play and Roy and Briere are going to get hauled down and there won't be a call. The Sabres will have no one to blame but Roy and Briere when it doesn't come.
