BRH Posted March 24, 2007 Report Posted March 24, 2007 Too funny. That must have been one pissed-off line of cars heading back to T.O. on the QEW last night. :D
elcrusho Posted March 24, 2007 Report Posted March 24, 2007 yeah you should have seen them leaving the arena.... hahahaha aaaaaah that was great
SabresFan526 Posted March 24, 2007 Report Posted March 24, 2007 That message board is hilarious. By the way, who is newleaf? Is that anyone from this board cause he's totally ripping on the Leafs completely while still under the guise of a Leafs fan. Genius! So, here's what I've figured out from that board. Either Raycroft is a terrible goalie OR the Leafs defense sucks OR Mats Sundin did not show up for a big game? Do you guys know the answer? I don't, but I'd say D.) None of the Above and the Sabres are an amazing team who have done this to so many other teams in the league this year. That's awesome, though.
wonderbread Posted March 24, 2007 Report Posted March 24, 2007 Hahaha...roysoft goes from all star goalie to not being able to stop a beach ball. I can just imagine what a loooong ride home it musta been
SabresFanInRochester Posted March 24, 2007 Report Posted March 24, 2007 That was some entertaining reading. I could only imagine being at the arena for that game. Leafs fans living the life for 2 periods, obnoxious, rowdy-- being Leafs fans. And then, 10 minutes of incredible hockey and hours upon hours of payback. What an incredible game! I cannot imagine the Leafs bounce back tonight. They have to be demoralized. If Buffalo gets off to a quick start-- game over. Hockeybuzz actually had a nice article on last night's game from the Toronto blogger. I'm not familiar with how to link it, or I would. But, the jist of it was not -- the refs handed Buffalo the game, or the Leafs suck. He basically said, that's why the Sabres will probably win the Cup. Pretty cool reading, from a Leafs fan!
Chief Enabler Posted March 24, 2007 Report Posted March 24, 2007 I picked this one of one of those pages, I love the .182 second reflex crap. He had good positioning on the Vanek goal, but come on, when you are 20 feet out of the crease you can't let shots get by you. There was no chance of a pass from Vanek on that play and he got beat even when cutting down the angle. You have to get your body on that shot. I have been a critic of Raycroft but here's my thoughts on that goal and goals like them: According to NHL.com Vanek shot from 34 feet out from the goal line in between the red faceoff dot and the top of the circle on the RHS. That checks out pretty close with the geometry of rink dimensions. Raycroft came out beyond the top of the blue ice (10 feet) to cut the angle down ? so he reduced the distance between himself and Vanek as he took the shot to 24 feet. Vanek got good wood and all of his shot so it was roughly about 90mph which is 132 feet per second. At that speed the puck would pass Raycroft in about .182 seconds. Video of 2nd goal Low end reaction time for young males is around .200 seconds. Top quick athletes react in about .150 seconds in ideal testing conditions when the outcome is known. In other words, if an object is dropped in a test for example, the person being tested have a pretty good idea of where they are going to intercept it before it is dropped and what muscles will be needed. They?re not slowed much by brain processing time to assess where the object is going and figure out what specific muscle movements are needed to intercept it. Reaction times to things seen take longer than the reaction time to things heard. Background noise and other visual stimuli increase the brain processing time needed to react ? like crowd noise and other skaters moving or shouting. If there is any tension, that also slows a person?s reaction time ? like in the 3rd period of an important game. With a slapshot, the goalie can?t begin to react exactly when the shot leaves the stick. He has to see the trajectory for a few feet to make a mental assessment of where the shot is going and what muscle movement is required before he can react to move to stop the shot. Because a goalie is wearing heavy equipment, that also slows down his movement relative to a ping pong player with a light paddle for example. Then you have to consider what muscles are involved to make the motion to stop the puck which also affects the physical time to react. For example, a finger movement often used for testing reaction time is much faster and easier to move than lowering a shoulder or body to get the blocker down to stop Vanek?s shot or get a planted leg up and over to make a kick save. The bottom line for me is that a 90 mph slapshot taken from 24 feet out from the goalie is virtually impossible to react much to. Basically, it either hits him or it doesn?t. Raycroft came out on a good line to cut the available net down which is about all he or any goalie could do. The shot was perfectly placed in a spot that would involve complex motor movements to stop and those couldn?t possibly be executed in the .032 seconds beyond ideal reaction time. Raycroft reacted quite quickly but a hunk of that movement came after the puck was past him. So there?s no way that I can fault Raycroft or any goalie on that shot. The big, big fault on that goal was three of the four Leafs on the PK (Sundin, Kilger & McCabe) went to the bench for a change when they didn?t get the puck out deep or much beyond their blueline. McCabe chnaged his mind and stayed on but was too far out of position to get back into the play. Poni & Nik had no chance as they hopped on. Gill and Raycroft basically got hung out to dry on a great shot by Vanek. HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO HAVE THIS GUY ON OUR BOARD?.................LOSER

connee Posted March 24, 2007 Report Posted March 24, 2007 My favorite post is: "No point watching any more games. Maybe I'll download some old episodes of Frasier."
ofiba Posted March 24, 2007 Report Posted March 24, 2007 HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO HAVE THIS GUY ON OUR BOARD?.................LOSER[/color] I actually enjoyed that post. What does that make me?
wjag Posted March 24, 2007 Report Posted March 24, 2007 I enjoyed it as well. Nothing out of the ordinary for any message board though. This is the life of a fan. If this happened to the Sabres, our posts would trend the same way. Start out proclaiming how invincible the team is. Then a bad goal, but no sweat. Now another and some doubts creep in, but hey its still a 2-goal lead. Then another and folks are beginning to turn and some panic is setting in. Its tied and we suck. Can't believe we blew a lead. What, we are losing. Our goal tender sucks. Team played like crap.. Every freakin time...
apuszczalowski Posted March 25, 2007 Report Posted March 25, 2007 yeah you should have seen them leaving the arena.... hahahaha aaaaaah that was great I went to the game, with 5 drunk leafs fans, for anyone sitting in section 305, I apoligize It was great to hear the arena going crazy when the Sabres came back and all the Leafs fans shocked at what was happening

I thought Clarkson had their chances in OT.
Taro T Posted March 25, 2007 Report Posted March 25, 2007 Watched that one on TV, tough OT loss. I thought Clarkson had their chances in OT. They had several chances in OT. (I actually thought they had the better chances in OT, but will freely admit I am biased.) Unfortunately, not a single one ended up on net. (It's hard to score when you don't have ANY shots on net.) And to make matters worse, my wife's team (Michigan State) IS in the Frozen Four. (Raddle fraddle frickin brackle #!@!#% #%!% #%@! #%!.)

apuszczalowski Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 Front row in the middle. (Where else? B-) ) Well, the people I went with were the ones dressed in the "Go Leafs!" jumpsuits. I was the one with the retro Blue and gold hat and the Black "goat head" Jersey, and my girlfriend had the new logo longsleeve shirt (and blue and white X-mas garland necklace, she was trying to stay neutral) They probably could only here the girlfriends friend, she was the "S!" of the group, and was very loud
