Rabbit151 Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 Does anyone know the tie-breaker procedures for first place over-all in the event of a tie? I would assume that if Buffalo winds up tied with either Nash or Det that Buffalo would get the nod having beat each of them in the season. But, this is the NHL....perhaps there is an obscure rule somewhere under a pile of papers that Bettman will pull out if there is a tie. Rule 342 Sub-section 12a Paragraph 4 "In the event of a tie for first over-all, the President's Trophy and home-ice advantage throughout the play-offs shall be awarded to the team whose goalie wears a cage-style mask." "If neither team has a goalie fitting that description, first over-all shall be awarded to the team with the most Japanese/Canadian players on the team." "If neither team fits that description, then first over-all shall be awarded to the team that correctly makes the call in the air of a two-headed coin. The Western conference team shall make said call."
deluca67 Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 Never rely on tie breakers. Win it outright.
inkman Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 In all seriousness, don't the tie breakers start with # of wins? Where's Dave B. when you need him?
wjag Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 It's number of wins then head-to-head points then goal differential This holds for intra conference... I presume it holds for inter conference as well...
Peace Frog Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 Who cares about all that noise. Just win these last 9 games outright and tiebreakers are throwed out the winder. Now, on to business. Kick some Leaf loin tonight. Buffalo:     Toronto: :death: :death:
shrader Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 Where's Dave B. when you need him? Does he know any non-CBA stuff? :D
