Seth Greenstein Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 http://www.mlive.com/redwings/stories/inde...2610.xml&coll=1 Pretty crazy eh? "A flopping Hasek was flat on his back when Kristian Huselius snapped a 1-1 tie with a power-play goal at 17:34 of the second period as he blasted in a one-timer on a pass from Alex Tanguay." Hasek's analysis of the situation: "Somebody hit me in the head with an elbow, I don?t know if it was our player or their player. I went down and before I found the puck and got up they scored the goal. They told me it was our player, but I?m not sure.? Coach Babcock's response: "It wasn?t interference at all, our goalie tried to draw the penalty and he dove and they shot it in the net. Embellishment is something that happens in our game, probably too much, and when you try to draw a penalty and it doesn?t go your way and they shoot it in our net it?s a tough one." I have to admit, I'm not the biggest fan of Hasek (I know that's sacriligeous on this site potentially), so this to me is awesome! Plus I hate the Red Wings so failure on their part is happiness for me as well!
bcsaberks Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 Hmmph. Babcock has some balls for calling out the Dominator in public. Maybe trying to fire him up? He's a drama queen no doubt but show a little respect.
sabregoats Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 that could really come back to bite babcock, Hasek doesn't take constructive criticism very well.
jad1 Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 It'll be interesting to see how Hasek responds to being called-out by his coach.
inkman Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 I have to admit, I'm not the biggest fan of Hasek... You are not alone. I hate him. I mean really hate him. Every last fiber of his being. This isn't sour grapes. I hated him when he was on the team. I respected his abilities but as a person he has always rubbed me the wrong way.
Peace Frog Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 Hasek = Circus Clown. Hasek = Ass Clown
ko12010 Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 You are not alone. I hate him. I mean really hate him. Every last fiber of his being. This isn't sour grapes. I hated him when he was on the team. I respected his abilities but as a person he has always rubbed me the wrong way. I understand what your saying, but how can you hate the guy who was the reason we got so close to the cup in 99. He was also the main reason we were a consistent playoff team in the late 90's.
Monkeygirl Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 I was watching that and I was wondering if Babcock would say anything afterwards because it was pretty blatant and stupid. I would wonder what his teammates think as well. Is he going to do that in the playoffs when he doesn't think he can get into position again? He's always been awful at diving and making it look believable.
Sweet Baboo Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 It'll be interesting to see how Hasek responds to being called-out by his coach. me too...i want to find out if someone gets choked or if some adultery occurs
Bmwolf21 Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 Come one, guys. I am sure Dom will take this constructive criticism to heart, and will work hard to incorporate his coach's suggestions into his game. There is absolutely no reason to believe Dom will take it the wrong way, or act out against his coach and teammates.
Kristian Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 me too...i want to find out if someone gets choked or if some adultery occurs Or a mystery groin injury suddenly arises. Come one, guys. I am sure Dom will take this constructive criticism to heart, and will work hard to incorporate his coach's suggestions into his game. There is absolutely no reason to believe Dom will take it the wrong way, or act out against his coach and teammates. You're right as always, what WERE we thinking??! :D
connee Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 I remember that playoff game in Washington after a goal was scored on him he tried to get the referee's attention by flopping all over the ice right when he was about to drop the puck at center ice. His soccer tactics were pretty embarassing
SabresFan526 Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 Hey, isn't Hasek in contention for the Vezina this year? Do you think if he wins it, he will threaten retiring unless there is a new coach and a new General Manager and say so in his acceptance speech? Do you think Ken Holland and Mike Babcock would care if he retired and simply call his bluff? Personally, I don't think they'd care, and I bet they are hoping he does retire if he threatens to. So, do you think it will be knee injury that forces him out of the playoffs this year or a mysterious groin injury? Also, which Detroit News Reporter will get beaten up when he questions the legitimacy of Hasek's injury a la Jim Kelley? My money is on Mitch Albom.
darksabre Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 It'll be interesting to see how Hasek responds to being called-out by his coach. *in Dominator voice* "ACH! I'VE PULLED MY GROINS! Qvick! Vher is Steve Shields!"
Seth Greenstein Posted March 22, 2007 Author Report Posted March 22, 2007 So, do you think it will be knee injury that forces him out of the playoffs this year or a mysterious groin injury? Also, which Detroit News Reporter will get beaten up when he questions the legitimacy of Hasek's injury a la Jim Kelley? My money is on Mitch Albom. To answer your two very important questions, I say groin on the injury. He's had so many issues with it (no crude jokes either!) that it's just too easy to claim injury without any serious questioning. And second, when deciding who will get beat up, you have to go with the beat reporters, the people who are always around. And in Detroit, the Free Press beat reporter is a new challenge, a woman named Helene St. James. Should be cool hearing about how he beat her up and it's somehow her fault. And folks, I'm new to this board so I didn't realize the animosity you all have to Hasek. I really feel like I'm at home now!!!
Claude Balls Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 I always loved it when Empire did their Hashaoke bit. That was some funny stuff, almost as funny as Dom's embellishments. He always acted like he had been shot by a sniper when he went down.
deluca67 Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Hasek = Ass Clown Hasek = Greatest Sabre, no wait, 'Greatest Professional Athlete' of any sport to play for a Buffalo team.
bottlecap Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Hasek is certainly a more mature individual now that he's with a solid original six team and he's in his forties, right? Or is he? Ever since Yzerman and Shanahan left, the Wings are kind of toothless, having trouble scoring goals. It isn't so cushy out there any more, they're not winning 5-1 anymore, it's more like 2-1, 3-2 so the margin of error is alot less. And the thing is the other team is only getting 16 shots a game on him and they're like scoring 2 or 3. Maybe Bertuzzi will make a difference. Nobody's perfect. But Hasek, even with his flaws was, in his prime, as close to perfect as can be. The only imperfect thing was his attitude. When things go wrong, he kind of folds up the tent. Things are different now that he's a relatively old man. He is more fragile; I don't think he even played 45 games this year. And he still has fatal attitude flaws. Now we're discovering that even though he is a "Red Wing forever" there is still hell to be paid in these close games with dumb mental mistakes. I won't be suprised when he pulls the rug out from under his "forever Red Wings" by going down with a mysterious groan injury and leaving them with Osbad and Jimmy whatever. I hold nothing against Hasek, I'm beyond that. He gave us the best years of his life. It's just that I felt like he pulled the rug out from under us too when he left, and possibly in the finals against Dallas, "to prove a point" but he owes us nothing plus he's done alot of charity work. I hope we can stop the hating on Hasek. He's a flawed hero, like Thurman and Kelly.

He was also the main reason we were a consistent playoff team in the late 90's. I didn't say I hated his hockey abilities. Just his locker room cancer, primma donna routine. Hasek = Greatest Sabre, no wait, 'Greatest Professional Athlete' of any sport to play for a Buffalo team. The two are not mutually exclusive.
TheMadCap Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 I been saying the same thing for years. Well at least since we got rid of him. He always seems to go down and turn on his back...
inkman Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Well at least since we got rid of him. I'm not sure if this was an attempt at humor. DOn't get me wrong, I loved having him in net for the Sabres, I just wouldn't want to have a beer with the guy.
