carpandean Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 If it's the same one I am thinking of, Overchkin came in looking to blow Campbell up, but Soupy actually laid out Alex on that one. I thought that Soupy got nailed doing it when it actually happened. The Carruba collision showed the reverse angle and it was Ovie that went down hard.
darksabre Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 btw, how about that fist fedoryk took to the face. yikes!!
SabresFan526 Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 I really liked the Special Teams play tonight. There's not much more that needs to be said about the PP, I think everyone has talked about it. What I was really happy about seeing tonight was the PK. I thought the PK looked really good tonight, and for the first time in a very long time, they played hard on the PK and attacked. The first PK in the second reminded me of the PK last year when Grier, Pominville, Drury, and Connolly were scoring goals shorthanded. They were creating scoring opportunities shorthanded, which I haven't seen done in a very long time and they totally killed off the penalties. I think that's what I enjoyed seeing the most tonight aside from Stafford's goal scorer's goal. Great game in all facets of the game. Tonight, I'd say they looked very reminiscent of the team during last year's playoffs and earlier this year.
sabregoats Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Im actually going to say that this was probably one of the most complete games that they have played all year. Even during the oppening streak there were stretches in games where their legs got heavy. Tonight they played hard for 60 minutes.
wonderbread Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 My dad said he had the Washington feed and they said up until the 5 goal that washington was stil in the game and that they didn't think that MIller could take the Sabres very far into the playoffs. When OV got smashed by Campbell they said Campbell gets crushed by OV. He was incredulous (sp) about the announcing for Washington. Is it me or is anyone else tired of Peters lame ass attempts at fighting? this guy is terrible. Saw earlier that someone mentioned his new "turn my back to you technique" wtf is this? I long for the days when Rayzor would step in and exchange blows until someone fell. Maybe Rayzer can step in and show him how its done.
eball Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Canucks score! 2-0 over Preds, still 1st period.
Bmwolf21 Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 yeah, for the first time in a while, there's absolutely nothing to complain about. zilch. now i get to miss a home and home toronto series because of my sister's friggin wedding. Never underestimate Sabres' fans ability to find something to bitch about... flipped over to the nsh/van pre-game, and these douche bags in nashville are a couple of ridiculous pricks. on the tootoo suspension (who was "defending himself"), they said "we'll move on." . Very disappointed in those two announcers, but these are the same two idiots that said Nichol "flung Spacek down" and called out Spacek for not paying attention after "drilling Nichol into the net."

I watched the Washington feed and they clearly said AO went for the big hit and Campbell got the better of him.

Even worse is the fact that one of the announcers is "one of our own" -- Pete Weber.
Claude Balls Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Never underestimate Sabres' fans ability to find something to bitch about... How bout something like, let's not get too excited, it was only Washington. On another note, me thinks AO misses DZ a whole bunch. His stats have been below average since DZ came to Buffalo. 0 pts in 5 of his last 8 games.

I must reiterate my loathing of Joe Beninati, Vs. and Caps play-by-play man. Sorry, just having a moment. It'll pass. ;)

If I'm not mistaken, it's Joe Beninati and Craig Laughlin. Beninati especially is one of the worst I've ever heard. I think he might have done a game or two last year on VS during the Buffalo-Ottawa series. He's the guy that made you wish you didn't like hockey so you could have done something else than listen to him talk about the game...
Samson's Flow Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 i was really impressed with zubrus tonight. he seems to be finally comfortable in the system and is showing his strength on the puck and playmaking ability. he answered all those critics out there that he is a bust.
carpandean Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 It's official -- Canucks downed Nashville 2-0 -- we are official back in the points lead for the league!
Doohicksie Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 The boys looked good tonight. But it wasn't Stafford that everyone should have been wondering about the hat trick. The guy who should have scored about SIX goals out there was Pommers. He had so many good chances, it was amazing. During their recent rough patch we would have been tearing our hair out. But because the rest of the team buried their chances, we can chuckle about it. Pomminstein will score goals in other games, but boy was he snakebit tonight! The rest of the team.... lookin' good!
Niaure Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 I'm very happy about the result and a solid game by Zubrus.

He blew what should have been one of the best hockey calls ever with a rhyme scheme: They score in a Huuuuuuuuurry! Chris Druuuuuuuury!
LabattBlue Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 -Much better effort by the Sabres in the 2nd and 3rd periods. -I saw Stafford during some of the training camp practices and you could just tell he had some great offensive skills. This didn't show during his early stints with the Sabres, but it is really starting to be visible the last 10 games or so. -Pominville's inability to hit the net last night became comical by the 3rd period. I bet he didn't sleep much last night having nightmares about all the chances he missed. -I know Spacek had a giveaway in the first period, but I thought he played a solid and very physical game. I just wish Lindy would give him another shot on the PP. -Derek Roy has been playing much better in recent weeks and I expect a big playoff from him. GO SABRES!!!!
EdwardSauve Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 I couldn't get to the computer to hear the game last night, but caught the highlights on NHL.com this morning. The announcers were talking about the fact that Sabres fans were starting to get a little worried lately but that they were jumping back on the bandwagon last night. (I think it was actually right before the Brashear goal). Anyway, did anyone else catch that? Whomever those guys were they should be ashamed of themselves. Talk about your own crummy team, not our 1st place Sabres! "I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul!"
