Wow, what Bills games are you attending? The place has become downright corporate over recent years.

Ever been to a Falcon's game? That's corporate!! But yes, I agree, seems Bills games may have slightly calmed down.... though someone recently mentioned (perhaps on TBD?) that a tailgater had a deer's head on a stake in the parking lot. That's simply :censored: up.

So when you first started watching the Sabres, you also could be called a bandwagoner, you never watched them before?

So what if people are starting to watch the Sabres, maybe even for the first time!! So what, who cares!!! Everyone starts somewhere! I have been around since the Sabres first made their appearance into the NHL, and I welcome new fans and I don't offend them by calling them bandwagoners! My son is 16 and just started watching the Sabres because we live in Philly and didn't get a lot of game before the NHL Center ice package, is he a bandwagoner too...I don't think so!!! I am so tired of people who think they are entitled to label people because they have been watching the Sabres for a few more years than someone else!

The trick is that you guys are Sabres fans in that you know what is going on. I don't have a problem with people who go to the games because they genuinely want to see the Sabres play, not just as a status symbol. It's not when you started watching the Sabres, it's how you watch the Sabres, in my opinion. I hate it when I go to Buffalo wild wings and the people there boo everything. They boo legitimate off sides calls, they boo legitimate penalties. There's too many people out there watching hockey that refuse to learn anything about it in order to make themselves look like less of an ass.

I don't hate new fans. New fans is a great and wonderful thing for the sport and for the teams. I just hate the people that decide "Oohh the Sabres are good now, I should start going to games so that I can tell everyone I was at it. What's that? Icing? What's Icing? What are you talking about?"

I don't understand the animosity toward the bandwagon.

It is rare for a team to begin to transcend the sport it plays, and I think this team has done that with a combination of skill, good public relations, and heart.

Kids and women are talking about hockey like never before.

If your new you have to start somewhere.

For the Buffalo diaspora community - it really is a rush for them to be in a different city and

to run into 3000 people from home.

Well put, and used in a sentence, you probably heard that on the national Spelling Bee this year.

It is good to see a dexterous mind sensitive to my ruminations in prose.

Now if I could only get "your" and "you're" right.

I have been to every Sabres game in Atlanta and I have nothing but good behavior by Sabres fans. If anything I have seen Thrashers fans act like punk rednecks, like the moron who was sitting across from me Sunday and made a complete jackass of himself in front of his family.

ANother disturbing thing I have seen at Thrashers games is that the Jumbotron and PA announcers fire off insulting barbs against the Sabres, the city of Buffalo, and Buffalonians....anyone else notice this?

Nashville did the same thing on their jumbotron. Taken with a grain of salt, the video clips WERE funny. There is no sense in getting riled over any of this stuff. Appreciate what happens on the ice, and leave it at that.

don't you get it? again, I'm not riled up - just making an observation about the different atmospheres in different arenas. 'Nuff said, I think we have beat this one to death.

I believe the Thrashers are a cracker jack organization which is so wrapped up in its own insecurities as a relative neophyte that is has to resort to making fun of the opposing team. Why not let your team speak for itself? Because it's easier (and more entertaining) to resort to the lowest common denominator. You would never see this bull - - - - at a Sabres game or any other old school northern city for that matter.

GREAT post

I am a new Sabres fan and I appreciate what everyone has to say on these message boards. Although living out of state like I do, whenever I get a chance to see the Sabres play on National TV like NBC I make the most of the opportunity. JUst from the time that I have spent on these boards that I know that the Sabres fans are the very best fans in the NHL. I hope some day to be able to see the Sabres play. The closest arenas that I could go to to see this would either be in St. Louis, Dallas or Colorado. Bottom line is that I consider myself to be a diehard Sabres fan and I am thrilled to be associated with such an outstanding fan base in Buffalo. Go Sabres!!!!!!

Gee - Sorry to start such a long discussion over something relatively unimportant. I just went to the Thrashers board after the game to see what they had to say and thought the one post I quoted was kind of funny.

All in all, everyone at the game seemed in good spirits. Light hearted banter was all I heard. I think the fact that it was mid day Sunday kept it from being too crazy. Lots of kids were there and everyone young and old seemed to have a good time.

I vote we end this one. Peace out!

Go Sabres!!!

While I haven't been to a game in years, the stuff I see Sabres fans doing on TV in opposing arenas is obnoxious and it appears to be young kids (18-25) acting completely disrespectful.

Oh Boo Frickin Hoo.

Grab a few beers, sit back, and enjoy the entertainment.

Yeah it is. I love it. Bandwagoners or not, I feel very much at home for ~3 hours.

New fans are not Bandwagoners, Bandwagoners are the fans that come and go along with the teams winning years. bandwagoners are the fans that could care less about the team back when it was struggling, needing its fan support, and then come back in droves when they start getting in the headlines and almost win the cup

Right now, the arena is filled with them. Up until last years first round of the playoffs, you could buy tickets day of game. They make it to the third round and now this year, the place is sold out and everywhere you turn fans are wearing Sabres gear and cheering them on acting as if they have been fans for years, but as soon as the team hits a rough patch, they will bail

I don't think that this is true. Bandwagon fans go from malaise when the team is doing poorly, to heightened interest when a team is doing well.

Buffalo fans are different. They go from hatred when the team is doing poorly, to maniacal obsession when the team does well. There's something more going on here than just bandwagonning.

Even when the team is doing poorly, there's still a high interest in the team. But it's more about who should be fired or who should be traded. Small crowds are more of a sign of protest from Buffalo fans, rather than disinterest.

long time fan, relativley new poster. I personally like the bandwagon fans, they bring more money in henseforth keeping sales up which in turn makes the owner (TG in our case) want to spend more on the club thereby putting a better product on the ice. Although sometimes i feel a certian "where were you during the lean years" feeling i have no animosity towards these fans. as long as the sport the blue and gold...err black and red...err blue and gold. I like having them around.

I love being in the position to have bandwagon fans.
