Isn't Max due back soon?

While having Max back can't hurt, the guy who unfortunately would make the biggest difference on the PP is still Connolly.

I agree 1000%, but it's much more likely that Max will be back before Tim

What I heard is that the cannon from the point, Kotalik, is actually closer to coming back than either Connolly or Max, but I don't really know the timetable for those pesky lower body injuries and upper body injuries are. But seriously, I think Kotalik would be a big help on the PP, and I heard he is a little closer to being back right now, and that he has started skating. Max is skating, but still cannot hold a stick from what I understand.

I'll take anyone back now!

That "cannon from the point" has been AWOL since March last year, so don't count on any PP help from Kotalik.

He has 3 PPG's this season, having him back won't change diddly in that regard.

We could sure use some PP help!

What might help more is if someone actually decided to shoot the puck at the net once in a while instead of looking for a highlight reel play.

I'm with Eddie. Simplify, simplify, simplify.

AK would be a nicer option than gimpy Vanek on the shootout though.

Ding, ding ding - we have a winner.

Yep. A simple little wrister or snap shot wouldn't hurt, either. All these guys want to do is wind up and blast away, or make the pretty one-timer in an empty net. More guys have to get their noses dirty, get in front of the net and bang away at rebounds. Ugly goals count too...

Instead of a PP specialist, maybe Al can be our shootout specialist...

And maybe quit hogging the damn puck, and move it around a little when on the PP? I can't count the number of times where I saw players take strides with the puck last night, on the few occasions we were set up in the zone. Once you're set up, you start throwing passes around, keep it simple if you must, you don't get points for style here. Hogging the puck against an agressive PK is suicide. Just pass it off, what the hell does it matter if you pass it to the same defenseman 5 times in a row, as long as you keep posession? Get the box moving, good things will happen if you stay patient.

And when you have a four on three going, you're at the VERY LEAST supposed to move the puck around to get the defensive triangle moving a little. The way we played that PP, the Thrasher triangle could just stand and wait for us to lose the puck.

The Thrashers gamewinner last night was a textbook example of how it's supposed to be done.

What they really need to do is pass the puck quicker. Every time one of 'em receives a pass from the other guy, they diddle with it.

Watch other teams good PP's, and you'll see quicker, touch passes, lots of times right back to the guy who passed it to you.

The key is to get the defender committed one way and then shoot when he's out of position.

Too much diddling!

He would make a difference. We need a right handed shot on the PP unit.

They diddle in the corner, they diddle in neutral ice, they diddle at the point...you know what that makes them?

I commend you on the successful hockey adaptation of a great baseball movie scene... :D

What does it matter if he shoots left, right, center, backwards, or hanging upside down - He hasn't hit jack this year anyway. Plus, the way the PP is playing right now, Al wouldn't even GET a shot.

Keeping it simple and passing the puck around quickly might help though, even if it's just two defensemen throwing it back and forth on the blueline.
