DWarner Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 The Philadelphia Flyers signed goaltender Martin Biron to a two-year contract extension on Tuesday. ''We are extremely pleased to get this done,'' Flyers GM Paul Holmgren said in a release. ''Marty has come in and played well and we look for him to be a solid goaltender for us for the next two years.'
rickshaw Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 Marty has officially signed a two year extension with the Flyers. I guess his wife Ok'd the move.
X. Benedict Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 I'm not saying Darcy didn't do well in the trade -- he did much better than I was expecting. I'm just saying that salary inflation seems to be continuing, and that there is likely a "halo effect" for Sabres free agents that is at work as well. Since we've got a few guys (can't remember who) due for free agency this summer... I see what your saying, I just don't think it indicates much in terms of salary inflation. They are going with him as a #1, he's a veteran, and he would probably have taken a 4 yr. deal under 11 mil. Because it is only 2 yrs, I think they are paying a premium.
Larry Playfair Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 This extension makes it worth it for them to have given up their 2nd. Good luck Marty. Philly has a ton fo cap room to spend, so well see. But 2007 is our year! Go Sabes.
