Yep, the goals we are giving up are all coming at very inopportune times. I can handle getting scored on, it's just when and how that is bothering me lately.

Was it me or did the boys get waaaaayyyy tentative after the 1st goal? Lindy must have exploded after the Pens' goal, 'cause they skated (and I can't believe I'm using this expression) like their collective hair was on fire in the last 2 minutes. Lots of great opportunities in the end, but no bounce.

 

I'm getting a little tired of the "The Penguins are going to be great for years" stuff. They'll have to play under the cap just like everyone else and Malkin, Crosby, Staal, & Fleury are all going to want to get paid. Who is to say that this isn't the year? ENOUGH I SAY! They have a great mix of veterans and young guys.

 

Wait, nevermind. :unsure:

seems like we get a lead and let up a quick goal way too often lately. good period with fluery standing on his head so far :censored: :censored:

Great first period, from a hockey fan's perspective.

1st intermission thoughts:

Nice goal by Pommers;

really liking the Roy-Vanek-Zubrus line's hustle & chances so far;

Mair had a pair of ugly giveaways early on that turned into scoring chances;

tough to give up the lead, especially when you get outworked in the corner and leave the slot wide open;

tired of listening to these NESN douchebags - lost all credibility when they commented about Peters being a serviceable player (or something to that effect)

HUGE save by Miller in the last couple minutes...

 

Should be a fun 2nd period.

Asking Stafford to tie up a guys stick at the side of the net is the problem. Lindy has him with Drury to learn the defensive ropes I'm guessing. And Drew still has a lot to learn

Oh, and I almost forgot - HOW THE HELL do you do an interview with the Pens GM and block out a quarter of the screen WHILE PLAY IS GOING ON? Frigging Vs and their idiot game production... :censored:

I missed the last two games, so I don't know if they were already together, but they look damn good tonight.

good period for both teams. it sucks that the sabres had the lead for like 3 seconds, and the tying goal was scored by the nephew of our PTA president. However, the sabres came on STRONG at the end of the period. I haven't seen an offensive rush like that in about 2 weeks. Get a couple quick goals in the 2nd.

my god, a period of hockey and i didn't even want to take a nap! i don't care that it's tied, that was exciting stuff!

 

fleury is out of his mind though, some nice saves and luck on his side so far. props to him.

That was driving me nuts. It's hard enough to follow the puck. Havings a rather huge chunk of the screen lost to a useless interview....grrr

OK, I had to chime in here...this is F-ing RIDICULOUS! They are going on and on with the Lemieux interview as if there isn't even a game being played. This is why I absolutely can't stand this channel or their presentation of a hockey game. Plus these commentators could put me to sleep after 5 large coffees...and the sad thing is, they are actually better than the usual Enberg or whatever his name is. I hate this channel!

Looks like they now realize that we don't need the visual, but they're still ignoring the game.

 

Reminds me of a Bills-Colts game in (I'm dating myself here) '91 where they interviewed Walter Payton for just about the entire 3rd quarter. At least the Bills were blowing out the Colts in that one.

 

OK Fort Duquesne, you'll keep your team. Can we play hockey now?

It is painful to listen to these guys. Tallinder makes a good defensive play on Crosby, but they talk about the moves Crosby has.

 

It'll be interesting when a goon like Neil clobbers Crosby in the head someday and overhear the conversation in the owner's box between LeMieux and Butthead...I mean Bettman.

Buffalo is playing a pretty good defensive game tonight. Considering who they are playing they are minimizing the odd man rushes. I agree Tallinder absolutely picked Crosby's pocket...

 

I got a feeling Buffalo is gonna get a goal real soon..

It doesn't seem like they're calling the game... even when they actually are. Piss poor prooduction maybe? At least we don't have Emrick calling this one like a golf game ("The Drive!!!").
