Stoner Posted March 6, 2007 Report Posted March 6, 2007 March 6, 1977 The Sabres beat the Montreal Canadiens at the Aud, 4-1, one of only eight losses the Habs suffer all season long. March 6, 1989 The Sabres trade defenseman Calle Johansson and a second-round draft choice in 1989 (Byron Dafoe) to the Washington Capitals for defenseman Grant Ledyard, goaltender Clint Malarchuk and a sixth-round draft choice in 1991 (Brian Holzinger).

Wow, eight losses, that seems almost undoable
ExiledInIllinois Posted March 7, 2007 Report Posted March 7, 2007 Wow, eight losses, that seems almost undoable Don't forget how great that team was!... Then again, there was no regular season OT... Just ties... Not knocking the Habs... But they did have about 20 ties that year... Really if you went back to that format... You might see the elite teams trying to play for the tie at the end of regulation (which no doubt the Habs did do)... I think it is doable, but it has to be back in that format... IMO

I just hope malarchuk can stay healthy!

They were 60-8-12 and they had to score late to beat Washington in the last game to get to 60. 33-1-6 at the Forum (The 1 loss was to Boston IIRC). And 27-7-6 on the road. Absolutely unbelievable team and season.
Stoner Posted March 7, 2007 Author Report Posted March 7, 2007 And one of those ties at home came against the Sabres during the Blizzard of 77. Only 14 Sabres made it to the airport for the trip to Munreal. Amazing.
