Taro T Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 No respect for Darcy Wakaluk? Shame on you. Wakaluk just missed my top 20.
nucci Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 Wakaluk just missed my top 20. Joe Daley??
Taro T Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 Joe Daley?? He was right there with Smith and Trefilov, but there's only room for so many. ;)
jad1 Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 1. Hasek 2. Crozier 3. Miller 4. Sauve 5. Edwards Barrasso misses out for never winning a playoff series in Buffalo. Miller hops over Crozier if he backstops the Sabres to the Finals this year.
bills_fan_in_raleigh Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 1. Hasek 2. Crozier 3. Miller 4. Barrasso 5. Edwards 6. Sauve 7. Fuhr 8. Biron 9. Puppa 10. Desjardins 11. Cloutier 12. Noronen 13. Malarchuk 14. Dryden 15. Shields 16. Bromley 17. Rolosen 18. Draper 19. Smith 20. Trefilov Your missing Wheland ( Ok he only played for Bisons and was used by sabres as a shooting gallery ) But I think Desjardins was higher up however injury to his eye affected him big time. I debated Crozier versus Dom both could steal a game for sure
apuszczalowski Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 I think you guys are forgetting about the best goalie in Sabres History http://www.goaliesarchive.com/canucks/essensa.html
frisky Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 What about David Littman? Anybody remember his game? I think it's still a little early on for Miller. I think a couple of more years yet. But we had some good goalies that for sure. I think for the time being until Miller has a couple of more years under his belt for All-Time (he's only had a year and a half so far), it would have to be... 1. Dominator 2. Crozier 3. Edwards 4. Barrasso 5. Sauve Some of the past teams sure left our goalies out in the wind.

fushetti Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 I'll preface my Sabres best goalie list by saying that I'm too young to remember anything before 1987. Darren Eliot Darcy Wakaluk Robb Stauber David Littman Petr Skudra All hall of famers. While I'm at it, I'll give my all Sabres team. Forward: Jiri Sejba, Joel Savage, Trent Kaese (honorable mention: Sergei (dont' call me Viktor) Petrenko) Defense: Dale DeGray, Denis Tsygurov (honorable mention: Brad Miller) Goalie: Darren Eliot (honorable mention: any guy above) You give me those guys, and i'm winning cups baby.
Claude_Verret Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 I forgot Phil Myre too. He of five career games as a swordsman.
wnyguy Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 I'm just glad someone mentioned Elliot. Thought I'd be the only one.
mphs mike Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 1. Hasek 2. Crozier 3. Miller 4. Barrasso 5. Edwards 6. Sauve 7. Fuhr 8. Biron 9. Puppa 10. Desjardins 11. Cloutier 12. Noronen 13. Malarchuk 14. Dryden 15. Shields 16. Bromley 17. Rolosen 18. Draper 19. Smith 20. Trefilov I think I'd decrease the gap between Hasek and Crozier. I'd also rate Miller as "incomplete" due to lack of games. I think my list would contain the same 5 names as Frisky & Nucci. Was Daley the only Buffalo goalie to play without a mask or is my memory failing me? Admittedly I think of Phil Myre as an ATLANTA Flame and still have no recollection of him in Buffalo
rickshaw Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 1 Hasek 2 Sauve 3 Edwards 4 Barrasso 5 Puppa 6 Desjardins 7

Admittedly I think of Phil Myre as an ATLANTA Flame and still have no recollection of him in Buffalo I haven't ever seen a goalie that was as good as Dom in his prime. (JMHO, not looking to start a great goalie debate.) You may have a point w/ Miller's grade being "incomplete" but I have faith that he's for real. If he stumbles badly in future seasons I would lower his rank, but I would rather have him today than any of the other guys I rated lower than him. You are correct about Daley.

I agree there should be a gap between Hasek and Crozier, just "smaller" than your very scientific depiction. The only goalie I ever saw that I think belonged in Hasek's class was Vladislav Tretiak in his prime. I still remember his play in the 72 Summit Series.
Chief Enabler Posted March 6, 2007 Report Posted March 6, 2007 I think you guys are forgetting about the best goalie in Sabres History http://www.goaliesarchive.com/canucks/essensa.html I think Bob found his groove being Ryan Millers agent though....
bob_sauve28 Posted March 6, 2007 Report Posted March 6, 2007 1) Hasek 2) Barasso 3) Sauve 4) Miller 5)? I guess Edwards. Puppa was really good at times but stunk at other times. His glove was the 'Puppa Scuppa' Ya know, Pooper scooper, :D I never saw Crozier play so can't rank him, but Barasso was a great one for a few years there.
shrader Posted March 6, 2007 Report Posted March 6, 2007 I'm too young for guys like Crozier, but I'm shocked that people would think that anyone was in Hasek's league. Two Harts and what, 5 Vezinas? You'd be hard pressed to find any goalies, let alone another Sabres goalie that comes close to what he did. Is this still a case of hard feelings over the way he left?

The guy is the best in NHL history, in my mind. Then we have the three other hardware-winners in Buffalo, Sauve & Edwards (Vezina) and Barasso (Vezina and Calder). After that, it seems a contest between Crozier and Miller.
gregkash Posted March 6, 2007 Report Posted March 6, 2007 whos john blue?and what about dominik hasek? on my list darren puppa would be like 10! is this a joke? Oh no i'm dead serious.. really.. John Blue is the best Sabre goalie, ever. All one half a season he played.
X. Benedict Posted March 6, 2007 Report Posted March 6, 2007 Oh no i'm dead serious.. really.. John Blue is the best Sabre goalie, ever. All one half a season he played. Wait, I seem to remember John Blue, didn't he have 14 children and survive a fire and prohibition?
ExiledInIllinois Posted March 6, 2007 Report Posted March 6, 2007 Wait, I seem to remember John Blue, didn't he have 14 children and survive a fire and prohibition? Wow... That's tough! Surviving prohibition in all! :D
bob_sauve28 Posted March 6, 2007 Report Posted March 6, 2007 Wait, I seem to remember John Blue, didn't he have 14 children and survive a fire and prohibition? Is John Blue from Fratalia?
