wjag Posted March 4, 2007 Report Posted March 4, 2007 Ottawa had a 3-1 lead going into the third. Gerber in goal. Chicago tied it late and out shot Spezza, Heatley and Alfie in the SO. Second straight game Ottawa has given up a third period lead. Thank you Chicago..

Ogie Oglethorpe Posted March 4, 2007 Report Posted March 4, 2007 If the Sabres go 8-8-1 to finish the season, they will match last year's record exactly, 52-24-6, 110 points. With the point that Ottawa got today, they would need to finish 14-1 to tie the Sabres at 110 points and therefore win the division through the head-to-head tie breaker.
wjag Posted March 4, 2007 Author Report Posted March 4, 2007 that's still a point though. This one definitely hurt though. Chicago is not a playoff team. They had them outright and gave it away late. Buffalo reduces it magic number by one while watching. Instead of Ottawa getting to 11, they are at 12 and one more game played. Lost points are big when you are chasing.
Supersabre Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 Good, I'm glad they lost. I hope that they lose the rest of their games by huge margins. If any team deserves to tank their season its Ottawa. Not that I am bitter or anything. Btw, break a leg Chris Neil ya jerk. Err, I mean keep your head up Chris Neil. <_<
ExiledInIllinois Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 Damn... I should have went to this game... My son's Cub Scout district were doing a ticket special for this game... Double damn... I would have loved to see the Otters crash in a SO, live and in the flesh!... Even if they got one point! :D
rickshaw Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 NJ is losing 2 zip in the 3rd to Boston. Oh yea.
wjag Posted March 5, 2007 Author Report Posted March 5, 2007 This night is trending Buffalo's way.. Boston just TOTALLY outplayed the Devils in NJ and beat them 4-1. Sweet.
FogBat Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 NJ is losing 2 zip in the 3rd to Boston. Oh yea. Make that 4-1 Boston Final Score. That's a zero point gain for the Debras. Boston's just trying to get into the playoffs.
MBD Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 I'm pulling for Boston to take the 8th seed from the Laffs, Her-icanes, Strangers, and Canoodleheads.
FogBat Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 Yeah, but I'm hoping Nashville loses as well. They're beating Anaheim 2-1 near the end of the 2nd. Don't worry. We will have two games at hand with Nashville.
MBD Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 They're beating Anaheim 2-1 near the end of the 2nd. Don't worry. We will have two games at hand with Nashville. True. They'll have 2 games in hand and be a point behind. But I want more!
FogBat Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 True. They'll have 2 games in hand and be a point behind. But I want more! You're not getting greedy, are you? B-)
FogBat Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 Naw. ;) However, having said that, it's the end of the second with the Ducks and Preds with the Preds leading 2-1. Maybe Selanne will get a hat trick.
FogBat Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 Let me just add, freakin' Marty! Huh?
MBD Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 In the Penguins game. And Ducks-Preds going to OT. Dang, a point each at least. But come on Ducks! Cool, Ducks win! Sabres and Preds tied in points, but Sabres have 2 games in hand.
Screamin'Weasel Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 Ducks win in a shoot-out. Also, anyone watching the Nashville coverage notice how the announcers mentioned over and over ( at least 10 times that I heard) how the Preds were without 5 starters? 6 of thier last 7 have gone to OT or later, I believe. That is not quite as dominating as the Sabres missing 8 starters and scoring 5+ goals in 5 of the last 6 games, imo.

Winning without your starters should be difficult to do. Starting to look like the Preds and Sabres are having mirror years.
