SabresFanInRochester Posted March 4, 2007 Report Posted March 4, 2007 The schedule for the remainder of the year doesn't look all that bad for Buffalo. I would guess that Jersey is their toughest competition, and they face them twice. They will also see Pittsburgh twice before the year is out. Finally, one game against Atlanta. Following that, they have a lot of average competition, but by average, by no means do I imply a cake-walk. There should be no problem surpassing last year's point total and they really could challenge for the Trophy. Detroit and Nashville still have four games against each other. Plus Detriot has Vancouver, Calgary, Anaheim, Dallas, ... The same goes for Nashville. Much tougher schedule than what Buffalo faces. Anaheim probably has it the easiest out of the West out of the top teams, but I do not think that Anaheim is as good as Detroit or Nashville, so I see them struggling with the average teams that they face. The biggest push could come from Jersey. They have Pittsburgh twice and Carolina twice. Of course, they still have Buffalo twice. (By the way, Ottawa has Jersey once, and Pittsburgh three times, but I think they are too far back to make a run.) The most important portion over the remainder of the schedule is time. The further along we go, the more the boys heal. I know the Rochester kids have been playing great, but I am looking forward to seeing Max, Timmy, Al, and Spacek get back out there. Go Sabres!
bob_sauve28 Posted March 4, 2007 Report Posted March 4, 2007 I want the presidents trophy. I suppose those games against jersey will be very telling and perhaps decide the issue, but I just want to see us beat them so we have confidence going into the playoffs against them. I suppose Nashville with Forsburg will be pretty tough down the stretch
SabresFanInRochester Posted March 4, 2007 Author Report Posted March 4, 2007 I suppose Nashville with Forsburg will be pretty tough down the stretch I agree, and the nice thing about Nashville's schedule is the four remaining games against Detroit. Plus I think Nashville has already played one extra game compared to Buffalo.
wjag Posted March 4, 2007 Report Posted March 4, 2007 I want and expect it all. A team who loses 8 regulars and keeps winning. Blowing thru their divisional opponents who had every reason to play and win. Sweeping Carolina and NY. Winning in NJ for the first time in a long time. Beating both Nashville and Detroit on the road. Winning 10 straight to start the season. Going wire-to-wire in first place thru the regular season, leading the league in goals scored, leading the league with fewest losses, worst losing streak was just three games, best home record in the conference, best away record in the league, fastest team in the league.... This is the best team in the NHL. They will win it all...
