TM8-PL16 Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 the Oilers (Messier Night) and the Canucks (several times) both have worn compete vintage uniforms, including helmets, gloves, etc... this year and we were told all we were allowed to use was our jersey. And they said the only reason they were allowing us was because it was a throwback jersey... but then they put the number on the front, so really it isn't a true throwback anymore. it's dumb but this bothers me... AND the Leafs are allowed to wear WHITE throwback unis at home... as usual the NHL makes up the rules as they go along.... I want the complete OLD uni's and that is my real point... yes, another uniform topic :nana:

Did the NHL actually say the Sabres could not have a full throwback uniform?
BetweenThePipes00 Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 In this case, I am pretty sure it is the Sabres own fault for not deciding to have such a uniform/jersey until August or whatever. Remember they only have the throwbacks because they caved to public pressure over the slug. The plan was to just have the slug.
niagara66 Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 I want the complete OLD uni's and that is my real point... We weren't even gonna get the original logo jerseys until the anti-slug petitions and page 1 above the fold stories in the BFLO News shamed them into real quick saying we could. "Proof" that it wasn't in the original plans? They don't match the pants. But didn't our boys look good brawling with the Sens with the crossed swords on their chests!

Cheers!
carpandean Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 Not to turn this into another anti-slug thread, but I smile every time that I turn on the game and find that they are wearing the throwbacks (I know that there is a schedule somewhere, but I never check it). I actually think that it would have been a good move to let the Sabres wear their throwbacks against Toronto the other night when they wore their throwback whites (even though I believe that the vintage of theirs is older than ours.) Actually, they did get them socks, too, so it wasn't all bad :nana:
grinreaper Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 Those uniforms, similar to the old blue & gold are not intended to be "throwbacks". They are the Sabres new "third jersey", although I would gladly settle for them being their "first jersey".
Goodfella25 Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 So, uh, are we ever going to wear our throwback whites...ever...? Also, can someone please explain whats happening with the jerseys next season? I remember hearing that the vintage blue was going to be updated to match the current color scheme, but then I also heard that no teams will wear throwbacks or thrids next year because of the change to the new form-fitting reebok jerseys.
