wjag Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Imagine if all we got for Biron was a draft pick and a back up goal tender.
Knightrider Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Imagine if all we got for Biron was a draft pick. :bag: :death:
sabregoats Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 imagine in four months if all we got for Biron was..... a whole lot of nothing
slugspirit Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Imagine if all we got for Biron was a draft pick. We got a pick for a player that we hopefully won't have to use, and he won't be with us anymore after this season anyways.
Orange Seats Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Darcy isn't that stupid. He wouldn't open cap space for cap space's sake by dumping Marty. Unless of course he opened a pandoras box by entering the game so late that other GMs know that he's against the wall now and maybe they're thinking they can get more out of him at the last minute.
SyrSabreFan61 Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 The only thing I can think of, if Marty was traded for only a pick, is to clear space for Danny and Chris... I can hope right?
Braedon Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 imagine in four months if all we got for Biron was..... a whole lot of nothing Exactly. A late 1st/early second and 1.6 mil in cap space is pretty good for someone that's a UFA the end of the year. Big picture.
BuffalOhio Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 The only thing I can think of, if Marty was traded for only a pick, is to clear space for Danny and Chris... I can hope right? Then why trade him when he'll be gone at the end of the year anyway? Once he's gone, the money is there for Drury/Briere (in that order!).
wjag Posted February 27, 2007 Author Report Posted February 27, 2007 Exactly. A late 1st/early second and 1.6 mil in cap space is pretty good for someone that's a UFA the end of the year. Big picture. That's all well and good, but I'd prefer to win this year.
norfend Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Then why trade him when he'll be gone at the end of the year anyway? Once he's gone, the money is there for Drury/Briere (in that order!). 1st round pick, backup goaltender and the cap space maybe?

Once he's gone, the money is there for Drury/Briere (in that order!). Is a late first round worth more than depth at goal in the playoffs? Maybe. They get the cap space either way. I can't tell what theyre thinking anymore.
zow2 Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 I would go ballistic if that happened. I think Darcy will end up slightly overpaying for someone at the deadline to make this thing make sense.
SyrSabreFan61 Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Exactly - I am surprised that we didn't ask CBJ for Boucher rather than Conklin (depending on cap Number) . I have watched Ty in Syracuse all year...he is terrible.
Claude Balls Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Imagine if all we got for Biron was a draft pick and a back up goal tender. We'd have more cap space. :D

I have watched Ty in Syracuse all year...he is terrible. We didn't have to ask CBJ for Boucher, he was on waivers, and since CBJ then wouldn't be dealing Ty, Boucher would still be available.
Quickdraw Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 I'm telling you, he made these moves for Guerrin and the offer got yanked and sent to SJ.
DWarner Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 I was pondering this a few minutes ago. What if we picked up Conklin to play in Rochester? Maybe are waiting to bring in Belfour. Anderson would then back up Auld the rest of the year and have Conklin and Dennis in Rochester?

Anderson would then back up Auld the rest of the year and have Conklin and Dennis in Rochester? What would be the point of rearranging backups? What's Belfour's salary? Would that open room?
DWarner Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 I dunno though. If Conklin is in Roch, he doesn't count against the cap, if he's on a 2 way deal right? Maybe someone knows better than I do about his contract.

Braedon Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 That's all well and good, but I'd prefer to win this year. Oh right, we're not winning much this year.
