rickshaw Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Some big time movement would have to be made, but can you imagine Ryan Smyth wearing the swords??
slugspirit Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Some big time movement would have to be made, but can you imagine Ryan Smyth wearing the swords?? Where'd you hear this? Last I heard, Smyth was close to re-signing with the Oilers. Although, I do think he would be the best fit at forward among all those being rumored.
LoveAndWarrener Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Some big time movement would have to be made, but can you imagine Ryan Smyth wearing the swords?? I'd love it. He's my favorite non-Sabre in the NHL.
apuszczalowski Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 It would be nice, but I think it would take alot to get him (unless he is unwilling to re-sign with them now
Larry Playfair Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 http://tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/bio/?id=13...name=nhl-oilers an all star with 53 pts. id love it...and thats why it wont happen.
chileanseabass Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 i'd take raffi torres from edmonton
Kristian Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 I would KILL for Ryan Smyth to wear the blue and gold.....!!
inkman Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 3.5 million for Smyth. Sabres would have to send someone like Afinogenov (Kotalik wouldn't be enough).
rickshaw Posted February 27, 2007 Author Report Posted February 27, 2007 Sportsnet said that Edm/Buf were talking, but no names were mentioned.

slugspirit Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Sportsnet said that Edm/Buf were talking, but no names were mentioned. I'd guess Joffrey Lupul.
inkman Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Unless they're shelving Connolly. Still have to give up a #%^$#! load. Draft picks and prospects wouldn't be enough. How would everybody feel about losing Max, Stafford and a #1 draft pick because that is what it would take. Jason Smiths 1.976 million would fit nicely. :D
LoveAndWarrener Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Still have to give up a #%^$#! load. Draft picks and prospects wouldn't be enough. How would everybody feel about losing Max, Stafford and a #1 draft pick because that is what it would take. Not necessarily. The team with a player whose contract is up is dealing from a position of weakness. The Oilers, if they are dead-certain they can't re-sign him, are the team in the weak position. What they can do is hope that teams try to outbid each other to obtain him. I'd hate to lose Stafford but if he and Kalinin or Kotalik was what it took to seal the deal, I just might do it.
Goodfella25 Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Would be great, but I wouldn't mind Jason SMITH either. Exactly what we need on the blue line.

Jason Smiths 1.976 million would fit nicely. :D I'd do it in a heartbeat, though I doubt Edmonton would take Max in return. Their history of trades says prospects and picks. Lots of them. They prefer cheaper veterans to fill space. I'd kill for Jason Smith. Nasty bastard.
RayFinkle Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 I heard that the Oilers are talking with a team, but nobody that I can find reported it as being the Sabres. I guess we'll see...

Lots of them. They prefer cheaper veterans to fill space. Salary wise we would need to give up someone unless they don't plan on Connolly coming back, which they should have done eons ago. I could part with two # 1 picks and Stafford.
IKnowPhysics Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 I'd love it. He's my favorite non-Sabre in the NHL. Bingo.
Claude Balls Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 i'd take raffi torres from edmonton So would Ottawa and apparently they have.
slugspirit Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 So would Ottawa and apparently they have. Link?
hopeleslyobvious Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 So would Ottawa and apparently they have. Source?
Bmwolf21 Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Add me to the list of guys who would take Jason Smith in a heartbeat, and I wouldn't be too upset with adding Ryan Smith, either. But I'd have to be absolutely blown away with an offer to consider giving away Stafford.
inkman Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 So would Ottawa and apparently they have. Fargin bastages!
Chilly Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Smyth to me would mean that either Briere or Drury are gone after this year.
Braedon Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Smyth to me would mean that either Briere or Drury are gone after this year. One of them is gone anyway, regardless of who comes in. I've heard Lupul's name thrown around.
