frisky Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 TSN just claimed that sources close to Marty say that he has been informed that he has just been traded. They don't have details right yet but are working on it. He is not on the ice in Toronto.
Quickdraw Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 I think this is for the best. I'll miss him though.
Rabbit151 Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Yep, Sportsnet just reported that Marty has been dealt.
mrjsbu96 Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 the TSN trade tracker page might be the greatest disservice to worker production ever. as for my eulogy, i will truly miss marty. he is a class act and a fantastic all-around teammate - best of luck wherever that maybe!
Taro T Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Yep, TSN trade center is talking about Marty being traded, but no info yet about where he's gone nor who Buffalo's getting back yet.
Barnabov Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Finally we have some room to work with under the salary cap - around $3 million with Marty & Goose.
Buffalo Wing Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Thanks Marty! You have been a class act. You have represented the team and this city well. You are unique in this day and age of the "me first" athlete. Please continue your charitable work in the community no matter where you end up. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Best of luck!

I said it a year ago, where ever he goes, I'll buy that jersey... even if he signs with Phillyi n the offseason.
niagara66 Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Farewell Marty. Way to go out swinging in your last home game! It's now Miller Time all the way.
Rabbit151 Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Sportsnet indicated they felt Eddie the Eagle would be a good fit in the Buff. Kypreos said he felt Eddie would embrace the back-up roll and be a good locker-room guy based on his playing days with Eddie. Did he play on the same team as Eddie? In Toronto for a couple of years? Darren Pang I think also said he wouldn't be surprised to see Eddie in Buff. Considering how careful Regier is with personnel, if they get Eddie, you can bet they are convinced he won't hurt the room. Tough shoes to fit in Marty though. How can you be a bigger team guy than that?
X. Benedict Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Marty is as classy as he is loquacious. Good luck to him. Always enjoyed him in Sabres blue (black, red, and white, gold, yellow etc.....) I am betting Kwiakowski from Florida and a forward.
apuszczalowski Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Can we get this in writing? TSN.ca's website has it at the top of their news page, no details yet, but it says the team has told him he has been traded and that he is not practicing with the team right now
hopeleslyobvious Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 I haven't always been a big fan of Marty's, but in the last 2 years he has stepped up when needed and really been a class act in the backup role. Best of luck to him wherever he ends up.
IKnowPhysics Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 TSN.ca's website has it at the top of their news page, Breaking news. Time to F5 it up.
Rabbit151 Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Where will Marty wind up? I wouldn't be surprised to see a 3 way deal on this. Who would've taken him? TB? Phoenix? Montreal? Chicago? Los Angeles? It's tough to say, you know the Sabres wouldn't trade within division, not a goalie anyway, but if it's a 3 way deal.... Or, if Regier decides freeing cap space is more valuable than trading within division........ Phoenix wouldn't want him unless there was security that he stays next season. Same with Chicago.
SDS Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 does anyone else feel like they have been punched in the gut? A year and a half ago, I don't think anyone had any strong attachments to any of these players, now... especially after last week - I want them all here.

A year and a half ago, I don't think anyone had any strong attachments to any of these players, now... especially after last week - I want them all here. I see what you're saying. But I'm also really excited for Marty and excited to see who the Sabres will be picking up.

I think most teams that were not looking at him for a rental player, they probably already have an extension for him to sign in the next couple days

SDS Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 I see what you're saying. But I'm also really excited for Marty and excited to see who the Sabres will be picking up. the question is.... is Marty excited for Marty?

A year and a half ago, I don't think anyone had any strong attachments to any of these players, now... especially after last week - I want them all here. Yup. This group of players is so fun to watch, sometimes I feel like I'm tuning in to watch a weekly TV show and one of my favorite characters was just written out of the script. Except these guys are real, which makes even harder to deal with. From a hockey perspective, I am excited about the possiblities. But I will miss Marty.
apuszczalowski Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 TSN is confirming right now its the Flyers
Rabbit151 Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Philly? http://www.rds.ca/hockey/transactions2007/ All 3 channels say Biron to Philly. Deal or No Deal chicks on Sportsnet. What a circus.

There is no better interview. The new backup better sing along with all the songs while he's on the bench.
