wjag Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 OVERTIME!!!! Well we stole a point, let's get a second one now... Pretty good game to watch...
Peace Frog Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Call me crazy but I'd like to see us get that 2nd point via the shootout only because both goalies are doing such a great job. Let's go Buffalo!!!
MBD Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Nashville's down 0-3 to LA in the late 2nd. The Sabres should at least have a share of the points lead and hopefully will be all alone. Sucks to hear about Gaustad though. I just read the news.

Damn didnt sound good originally and spacek is back out with upper body injury
wjag Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 WOW what action in OT... Both teams should have won it now... On to the shoot out
McJeff215 Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 WOW what action in OT... Both teams should have won it now... Yeah good stuff. Shoot out!
Mr.Christopher Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 I'm gonna say we use the same shootout lineup. Briere, Kotalik, and Vanek.
Crestwood Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 After that overtime, I'm going to say I absolutely agree with John Buccigross' last column on ESPN.com. He proposes a 10-minute, four-on-four overtime. Five minutes is not enough for that kind of action. I'd love to see more OTs get the opportunity to decide games. Shootouts are fun, but there's nothing like the excitement of an OT goal to decide a game.

I believe every sport that has periods uses a full extra period. But I think 10 minutes is good enough.
Peace Frog Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Keep me posted on the shootout as it progresses, you guys. I'm at work so all I have besides this board is NHL.com and it's delayed by about 2 min.
Crestwood Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Kotalik is money on shootouts. And MILLER is money on shootouts as well. Great game o' puck tonight from both teams.
wjag Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Miller may have a 3-goal a night habit, but he is MONEY in the shootout... MIIIIIILLLLLLERRRR!!!! No goals allowed on 3 attempts... That last one was tricky.. He almost got beat
Peace Frog Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 WOO-HOO!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy that I'm gonna go find something to pee all over! Way to go Slugs!!!!!!
Corp000085 Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 before i begin a new thread regarding the topic, what's lindy's postgame report on spacek and/or connolly and/or any other mystery ailments from tonight's game? and about that game... WOW... who said the sabres couldn't win a close, hard checking, tight game? that was yet another playoff type game with a good result from the sabres. they'll play somewhere from 4 to 28 of those games looking for 16 wins... Put together a few more like tonight, and i have confidence we can do it!

Corp000085 Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 I don't think his post game PC has started yet.. CI granted me a gift with the first 15 minutes of the shootout, but it blanked out before they talked about the injuries...
Mr.Christopher Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 CI granted me a gift with the first 15 minutes of the shootout, but it blanked out before they talked about the injuries... Well WGR just confirmed that Spacek has a broken hand and will be out several weeks.
JujuFish Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Wow. It's nice to be on the good end of a 3rd period rally again. Great job, Buffalo!
BRH Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 With Goose and Spacek out it's looking like we may need to do something at the deadline. Paetsch is back on the blueline to stay and unless Darcy and Lindy think Sekera or Funk is the seventh D-man we want to take into the playoffs, and that Stafford can take Goose's spot...well, I'd like to have more depth than that. :(
Doohicksie Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Yeah, I'd like to trade for a Goose replacement... or better yet, pick up someone like Mike Keane; wasn't there some discussion that he is retired but in shape to play? Rent-a-grit would be great right now.
FogBat Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 I know it's nice to get the extra point from the extra sessions. However, these guys need to put an end to this "going into extra time". They need to focus on getting the job done in 60 minutes. Not 65, and not with SO's (or else we're going to be crying SOS!). BTW, w/ Goose being out, it looks like Darcy's job became even more interesting in terms of finding a Rentaplayer for the playoffs. Then again, Darcy didn't do much at last year's trading deadline. I don't see him doing much this time either. At least not to Glen Sather's extent.
FogBat Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Kotalik is money on shootouts. Your signature is quite telling. I wish they'd get rid of that NBA guy who's busy running the NHL's show down in NYC. AFAIAC, we need a commish who actually knows the game of hockey than someone walking in from another league/sport altogether. I still think Bettman is largely ignorant of the essence of the game. Whenever I listen to him talk, he sounds like he's a whiz at marketing and advertising, but he knows nothing about the true spirit of the game. He can't put the two together. If the NHL had a commish would could do both, the league would be in much better shape than it is now.
