Well, let's get this thing over with. We all know what we have to do, 0-82, right? Auston Matthews is the only hope, we need good players not these guys. The coach sucks, the gm can only win trades, and we have no center depth. Let's be honest, this season is going to be rough, but we'll have our Carrion thread and..... Wait, wait a minute. Wait a goddamn minute. What am I talking about? We have center depth, we have stars, we have a new coach, and we have a gm who's trigger happy to get his guys and gives zero ######. This isn't a year to mourn, to wail against the inevitable and to gnaw our cheeks raw with frustration and inner turmoil. No, my friends, no I say! This is a year to rejoice! To drink deep the rebirth of Sabres hockey! To enjoy GDTs again, to have hockey discussions, and to screw off with Russian avatars, for we will not need them to occupy our time. IT HAS ARRIVED! REJOICE  Watch this, but listen to this at the same time http://www.rickandbubba.com/goodies/legacy-sports-intro.mp3

Anyone else catch NBCSN show Eichel swigging Red Bull in locker room pre-game on Tues? Now, that stuff is way to sweet for me personally, but I find it interesting he's taking caffeine before games. Plenty of studies say caffeine is beneficial to sports performance, though typically it's endurance related, not sprint. My personal experience with coffee + bike is very good. And as a parent of 2 teenagers in youth sports, I've recently considered encouraging them to use it for games/meets via their liquid of choice (energy drink, mt dew, iced coffee (no dairy)). On the other hand, given the anti-caffeine environment around youth, it seems a bit taboo. Curious if this is generational, and if sports science is now pretty clear, fire it up for all sports. Gotta assume Eichel has good (the best?) nutritional consult around him...

The Ottawa announcers last night pondered if Jack "the Yeichel" Eichel would be a full time center this year in the NHL. He had a lot to work on last year but will he actually make the transition? What say you SS, will Jack Eichel our #2 center for 81 games last year, finally step up and be center for 82 games this year? Or will he be like Nathan Gerbe who just never managed to play a full season at center? (Shrader come back, we miss you  )
