  1. So you you've read the reports, watched and listened to the games. Who is here opening night? I see Ennis/Moulson/Stafford/Myers/Gorges as a lock on the first line. Hodgson and Stewart are bookends on the second. Gionta and Foligno should flank Girgensons (despite a very nondescript camp) on the third. And McCormick wasn't signed to play in the minors. He'll anchor the fourth. Meszaros and Benoit are locks on the blue line and Risto should join them. He's ready. Neuvirth backs up Enroth Rounding out the blue line, Weber held off Strachan and McCabe has earned a shot, at least until Pysyk gets healthy. Zadorov didn't show enough. They won't risk Deslauriers on waivers, but I think he's earned a spot on the fourth line anyway. Flynn and Mitchell outlasted Dalpe for the other depth spots, at least until Kaleta comes back. And Mikhail Grigorenko edges Sam Reinhart for the number two centre spot. They will probably keep Sam around for his nine games just to see what plays out because there is a spot available. But right now there is no room for him in the top nine.
  2. Seeing as unless he wows us in the next two games, I would honestly send him back to the Quebec league for the rest of the year. In his place I'd go out and sign Jason Arnott to a 1 year deal like we did with Hecht. He's score 17 goals in both of his last 2 seasons but more importantly, he's a veteran center who has won a Stanley Cup.
  3. As discussion about how to best handle Grigorenko's development continues (in the midst of the minority of Sabres fans yell ridiculous comments about Ruff's alleged inability to develop talent, which is another discussion for another thread), I keep hearing people talk about Seguin's development as if his career has been the standard for player development. I don't know if I'm missing something, but it's looking like he is on the verge of a disappointing season. Don't get me wrong, he's talented, but he was talented before his NHL development. What about his development needs to be done to Grigorenko? Seems like a bunch of hype and standard complaining from the Buffalo News and WGR evening guys.
