The Tank and Tim Murray's tenure are basically two separate things in my mind. We were already in full tank mode when Murray was hired and he had more than enough draft capital to build any team he wanted after 2014-2015. I don't buy into the notion that the Tank wrecked the team culture. The Sabres team culture has been trash since 2007 so it's not like we something special to ruin. And the team rebounded with 81 points in 2015-2016, so it's not like they never showed signs of life again after the 2015 season. And almost no one is left from the 2014-2015 roster so our team is completely removed from whatever happened that year. The problem is that Tim Murray was a disaster. His moves didn't work. We're a slow team full of guys that other teams weren't able to build with (plus plenty of awful contracts). And hilariously, if he'd have just held onto all of the 1st and 2nd round picks we had for 2015, we'd be a better team. A lot more vision and a little more patience would have made this all work. Let's hope Botterill does a proper rebuild and doesn't start panicking and overpaying for other teams' castoffs or guys he wished he'd have drafted 7 years ago.

Yeah, I'm guessing if we move Lehner we probably bring in a journeyman goalie to help us close out the season so that Linus can wrap things up in Rochester. Then next season would be Ullmark and an experienced veteran.

If they trade Kane, they'd have more than enough cap space to live with their bad contracts so I'm not sure why they'd use him to clear one out. If we're trading him, hopefully it's for young players that can help us in the next 1-2 years.

This is already Borgen's 3rd year at St. Cloud so he's getting close to when he could just stay and test FA. I'd rather they sign him, let him get a couple NHL games in to end this season, and then develop for a year in Rochester. I'd honestly love it if they did that with his teammate Jimmy Schuldt too.

Lots of pictures on social media of the Sabres practicing in their WC jerseys and taking a team photo. These REALLY need to be the new set. It's actually astonishing how much better they look in the correct shade of blue and with a stripe pattern that will actually show up on TV.

The Sabres drafting him was already a topic during the tournament, and the Buffalo News had him in the cover the morning of the draft. It was almost a formality when they finally took him.

Jack Eichel has been imbued with the spirit of Mittelstadt. Did you really think the Casey magic was going to be limited to just one player? There has been an awakening. Have you felt it?

I honestly can't imagine the Bills trading up for a QB and giving up so much to do it that I'd actually be upset. They could give up almost anything to get a top QB prospect and I'd be excited. Basically I'm saying they should do whatever it takes and get a guy. Finally. It's been forever since we had someone to be excited about.

FWIW, I kinda like the Bills jerseys they're wearing but only because it's for one game. I don't mind the occasional gimmick jersey and these have a better blue color than the navy ones they wore last night anyway. The Team USA throwbacks are still the best by far.

Still apoplectic about that ending. What even happened on the GWG? All of the Team USA players just collapsed like they'd been hit with tranquilizer darts. Awful. Happy Mittelstadt gave Sabres fans their highlight of the year though. That goal was magical, and the (half empty) arena was amazing when it happened.

Save us, Non-Toronto Nylander!!!!!!!!! He's literally the only Sabres prospect I can remember that gets a "Yeah, but...." when he scores in the WJC.
