Even with Botterill's statements about ROR, I think he's a candidate to be traded and makes more sense than moving Reino. I could see Risto and ROR moved as the "impact" moves for the core, along with a bunch of role players we REALLY need to just move on from (Larson, Girgs, etc.). In net, it'll be Ullmark and some other new goalie. Add it all up and that's a lot of roster turnover and a pretty fresh start for the team.

Per Kris Baker, the SHL seasons are over for both Asplund and Olofsson. They're both options for the World Championships for Sweden but also for ATO/ELC. Hopefully Botterill is on it.

Wahlstrom is also one of the younger players in this draft. He's not much older than Boqvist (who is almost young enough to be a 2019 pick). Wahlstrom reminds me of Mittelstadt in that he'd be ranked higher if he was playing somewhere that made it easier to gauge his stats and competition.

Why would we trade a guy when his value is the absolute lowest? We lose nothing by keeping him around one more year to see if he can figure it out. Especially if you take Botterill at face value when he says he thinks it has taken Nylander a long time to come back from his injury.

Pu is already signed for next year and will be in Rochester. Botterill sounds like he wants Olofsson and Asplund there too, along with Borgen. Nylander probably gets another year there. Maybe 1-2 more college FAs?

Wouldn't mind Tkachuk but more intrigued by Wahlstrom at this point. We should have some good options.

It was a really strong interview and it's definitely worth checking out on their audio vault. JB is such a breath of fresh air after all the preening and fronting by the old GM (who set is back years with his terrible decisions).

The Sabres generally play well against the Leafs so I wouldn't be surprised if they bring it tonight and we see the good version of the Sabres again. Before the last 3 games, they'd been playing really well.

Would be awesome if the Sabres could scoop up Borgen's teammate, Jimmy Schuldt, and add another nice defense prospect to help turn the roster over for next season. Also, I'm hoping the ATO makes that sound more appealing for Mittelstadt. If the Amerks are adding a top college player for a playoff run, maybe Casey wants to join up too. A traffic cone could replace Bogosian. The major difference being that we'd actually see the traffic cone on the ice from time to time.

Sign him ASAP please. Happy to burn a year for 8 games.

The top league in Finland is comparable to the AHL here. So he's playing ~10 minutes a night at a higher level than our CHL and college prospects as an 18 year old. He's got two more full years in Finland at least, and we knew he'd always be a project since it took a late growth spurt to even get is size to adequate for a potential NHL future. *IF* he ever makes it, and the odds are against 3rd rounders anyway, he'll be a while (like Victor Olofsson). We can agree he's a long shot but I'm pretty neutral on his this season went for him.
