  1. "I'm disappointed in the outcome. I have to be better and that's on me." - Ryan O'Reilly, after accidentally bringing 11 items into the 10 items or fewer checkout at Wegmans.
  2. And if you think Larsson and Girgensons are going to be a part of that, you're crazy. They've been here forever and it's not working. Scott Wilson was more impressive last year and he was practically free.
  3. If your argument for keeping a forward is that you like him as a 4th liner, then they have to go. The Sabres' team culture is radioactive right now. Clear out literally everyone you can this summer. I'm confident we can find 4th liners somewhere/anywhere. Our 4th line isn't what's holding us back. At the NHL level, Larsson, Girgensons, and Bogo have all only known losing. In a perfect world, we'd be rid of all of them by October. Enough already with the mediocre players that have never been on winning teams.
  4. Best reply ever.
  5. Bogo will be here because he's untraceable. He has a big contract and is never healthy enough to play hockey. Larsson and Girgensons are both JAGs and both should be gone just to change the culture in the locker room. If either one is here come October, I'm disappointed in Botterill.
  6. He's an objectively good player. But I'm not overly impressed by what he's done the last two years. He's a veteran that we brought in to lead the team and we need more from him. We need our best players to be our best players when it counts, not when we're already eliminated. The Sabres should have a very different feel this season with Mittelstadt and Dahlin on the way, along with whatever other moves Botterill can make. Maybe we can finally have a strong start to the season. But ROR is going to have to be a part of that and maybe even lead it. I hope he does.
  7. Probably read the board nearly every morning. And I feel like I definitely would have noticed "elite" or "stud" thrown around to describe any player on this team since we were mired in maybe the worst season in team history. The ROR praise was in the "actually, he's on track for his average year" category.
  8. The most bizarre thing about all of this is that ROR suddenly became an "elite" or "a stud" on this board after the season ended. Where was all this adoration from October through March when we were watching the games? During the season, the *best* thing people said about ROR was that he was quietly putting up his career average -- and that started early in 2018 when he suddenly came to life after the season was effectively lost. This is two seasons in a row where he didn't do all that much the first 3 months of the season and then caught up to his career averages in garbage time -- basically the entire second half of the season after we'd been eliminated from the playoffs. That's nothing to be over the moon about. I'll be really impressed with ROR if come October 2018, he plays lights out hockey and helps the Sabres get out to a strong start to the season. And maybe we're thinking about the playoffs when we're putting up Christmas lights instead of reading mock drafts for 2019. If his 2018-2019 is the same as this past season, it's basically a dud.
  9. ROR's post-game comments were a running joke on WGR long before locker room clean-out day. ROR's "I need to be better" schtick was worn out pretty early in the season this year. And unfortunately that's basically as close to an identity as this team has: Don't show up, lose, go out of your way to tell everyone how bad you feel about it and that things have to change after the game At this point I think if the team is going to take a step forward, it'll be with Jack/Mittelstadt/Dahlin driving the team culture along with whatever new guys we bring in.
  10. Yes, and it's a good use of our extra cap space this summer.
  11. Dahlin is proof that Tanking is bad but finishing 31st by accident is good. Because magic is a real thing that serious journalists (i.e. people that writes for newspapers and not blogs) believe in.
  12. Love that we've made it to the "Look, he's always been nice to me and I don't *think* he's sexist" phase of the Mike Harrington experience. Way to go, TBN.
  13. I'm more optimistic that another year in Rochester with Asplund and Olofsson will finally jolt him back to life, TBH. Not that I'm sure it will. But I think it could help.
  14. Neither.
  15. Well, yeah, but every now and then it's a sign of smart drafting (Matt Milano last year). If you're going to trade up for guys, it has to be for the critical positions and you have to get it right. At least they picked the right positions this time around to do it. Every other year, I'd rather they traded down and got more picks to help their odds of finding guys and getting some depth. Unrelated: We signed Gerhard de Beer as a UFA lineman. Best name in Buffalo Bills history? Or at least the perfect name for the current BillsMafia culture? Also, he's from South Africa so he probably has Diplomatic Immunity. #LethalWeapon2
  16. Nevermind. Found our first red flag... https://www.instagram.com/p/iecRmQPxIR/?hl=en&taken-by=rasmusdahlinn
  17. Also why we have two 4ths.
  18. It was terrific. Can't believe they actually pulled it off, and excited to see the next one.
  19. That sounds more like that they need to make some trades to shake things up. And string together a few wins to start the season for once.
  20. Still waiting. If we can avoid injuries, how much different will it be to watch the Sabres this year? How many speedy players are we adding? Dahlin and Mittelstadt are the big names, but adding Guhle last year completely changed the team's look at times (I'm thinking of the CBJ game with Ullmark). Then you have role players like Bailey and Baptiste. Plus, speed in the minors that could make a cameo appearance (Pu, Asplund, Borgen, Olofsson, etc.). Watching the Sabres could be fun again very soon. Hard to believe, but if we won the lottery, anything's possible.
  21. Isn't that sort of normal? If your team has 1 pick in each round, you'd think the R1 guys start in their first year and every other guy seems the field in Y1 and becomes a starter later. Plus, the last time the Bills came away with "2 starters" it was Shaq Lawson and Reggie Ragland so.....
  22. Stopping by to say that I'm still excited.
  23. Asplund is on his way too...
