With the season lost, they right move there was probably dropping gloves and defending Tage. That said, there is no doubt in my mind that they lose that game either in regulation or OT, if they retaliate. It is what it is. Nice to see a win but sad to see your best player laid out on the ice from a dirty hit with no response. Lindy just said that Tage "is fine" and that a couple of guys wanted to go after NJ right away.

Zucker said he never saw the hit on Thompson. He and a couple of others said they didn't react immediately because they didn't see who made the hit. Zucker said they won and NJ cost themselves the game by taking that penalty and the Sabres not retaliating.

Dahlin was asked if the team needs to have "more push back" after those hits. He said "yes" but the most important thing today was to get two points and they can work on the other stuff tomorrow. Take that FWIW.

And now they're shorthanded immediately afterwards. They are officially in "see if we can manage to get a loser point" mode even though they are currently clinging to a one goal lead. The 1st period seems like such a distant memory at this point.
