  1. Funny thing: After Krueger left and Donny took over, the players talked about how much more active Granato's practices were.
  2. I actually enjoy it, to be honest. A lot of what people call "bad grammar" is actually difference in dialect. Example: "The lawn needs to be mowed" versus "The lawn needs mowed." Both are clear in their meaning. The former is the more common usage, usually considered "standard" in a sense. The latter is peculiar to a small region in southwestern Pennsylvania and West Virginia, largely settled by Scotts. The grammatical structure is correct in Scottish usage. The "needs mowed" usage has entered colloquial English. A generation ago it was rare to hear this usage outside of region I described; now it's not uncommon to hear it. It's entered the lexicon and is a recognized usage. For as much as people make fun of Rob's grammar, it is part of the dialect he speaks. I'm sure that if the producers of Sabres broadcasts thought it was a problem, they would have suggested he go to a vocal coach and learn "standard" grammar, but we all understand what he's saying, so what's the big deal?
  3. What can we say? We have the patron saint of proper grammar speaking to us during every game (except the ones exclusive on ESPN+, TNT, NHL Network)
  4. The only poster that drives me mad when they make simple spelling/grammatical errors is me. I hate having that "edited by" tag because I typed "lost" when I mean "loss" but I'd rather fix the typo than show what an ignorant lout I am. Actually I blame my fingers: I have thoughts in my head and my fingers just type them out; I don't always catch the little mistakes they make. I've come to realize that a lot of us do the same so it's hard to get mad at others; I try to focus on the thought rather than the mistakes. One other thought that occurs to me- not so much on this forum, as those who are in other countries seem to have excellent written English skills, but on my local Nextdoor page, a lot of my neighbors are from Latin American countries and they really struggle with spelling, tenses, etc. I have to remind myself that they are communicating in a language that in many cases they were thrust into and have had to learn on the fly, and for all their errors I realize they're doing much better than if I had to suddenly start writing in Spanish. So we all have our stories; I try not to hold it against people. Except @Buffalonill. That guy........ sheesh.
  5. After the loss to the Wings I feel the least excitement for any game this year. The Kraken have had our number since they entered the league and no reason to believe tonight will be any different.
  6. I get it, but I think they might have told him if he signed after his junior year, he'd have a shot at the NHL right away. Agreed. I think they told him that to get him to sign. To not keep him up at the beginning of this season would have been going back on their word and spoiling the relationship (if they did, in fact tell him he'd get a shot at an NHL spot to get him to sign).
  7. Ack. That all started with Luukkonen trying to move the puck himself. I was just getting ready to say he's gotta work on his stick handling. It seems like when he plays the puck, the other team gets it more often than the Sabres.
  8. I realize your remark is tongue in cheek, but I think it's actually the opposite: He wanted a job where he *could* spend time with family and could for the most part set his own schedule.
  9. Tage goal was a wrister from left wing at the top of the circle.
  10. Very nice D play by Olofsson in the defensive corner to break the Sabres out when they were hemmed in. I can't believe I just wrote that sentence.
  11. Not quite. It had been a decade since I'd followed the NHL; we were both WIngs fans at that point in time. I missed the entire 1980s of Sabres and didn't really pick up on them until I bandwagoned on the '99 Cup Finals team.
  12. In the case of Craig Anderson, I'm thinking whateverthehell he wants.
  13. I believe he is a goalie consultant for the Sabres. It wouldn't surprise me if he was in Rochester.
  14. I think the whole Levi thing is that they told him if he signed he would get a shot in the NHL right off the bat. If you recall, he was finishing his junior year and if he went back for his senior year he would have been able to sign as a free agent after graduating. In order to keep him in the fold, they wanted to make sure he signed. When he came up last season he was 5-2 and looked pretty good. Coming into this season I think the brain trust felt it was worth a shot, and in the spirit of what they told Levi, to keep him on the NHL roster out of camp. When his numbers this season didn't look great and the rest of the goalie saga played out (injuries, etc.), they sent him down to get work. It was not certain, going into this season, what his performance would be, after his strong audition last season... and they wanted to make sure they kept him in the organization.
