Well, they're *all* Star Wars.

Eh, maybe Kulich. I think Savoie has more upside.

2024 Stanley Cup Final - Edmonton vs Florida
Doohicksie replied to Sabres Fan in NS's topic in The Aud Club
Same, except I don't use a u in favorite. I don't have an Eichel jersey from that time, I have a Reinhart. I like ERod. He was a good utility player for the Sabres, could move up and down the lineup. He's playing on the FLA's second line and doing well there. I like Okie too. I can even accept that he was flawed as a captain but still like him as a player and as a person. -
He didn't want to be part of another rebuild. Maybe the Ottawa rebuild timing doesn't match up with Tkachuk's timeline.

Why did we trade Eichel? (Hint: It had nothing to do with his neck injury).

Each of the Star Wars movies has a subtitle. The first film, commonly known as Star Wars, is "Episode 4: A New Hope" The whole concept was a trilogy of trilogies, nine films altogether, and they jumped in at Episode 4. Episodes 1-3 are the prequels with Young Annakin.

I just had a dream that the Sabres won the Stanley Cup
Doohicksie replied to OverPowerYou's topic in The Aud Club
Oh, I've had dreams like that. I won't "dream" every twist and turn; it's more like I come in toward the end with all the background somehow established in my dream memory. As the dream progresses, details fill in. -

Lay off the peyote, man. -
...and the NBA Finals.

As an inhabitant of Tornado Alley, weather forecasters are a lifeline. And on the important stuff they're very good. When you look back at severe weather events and compare to the predictions, they usually track quite well.

For us 'muricans, that's 122°F!

It's starting to feel like central Florida here in north Texas. Seems like every afternoon we get a thunderstorm rolling through. I think that cycle ended yesterday though; forecasts are for minimal rain in the foreseeable future. I've enjoyed the rain, enjoyed the cooler than normal temps. It'll start really heating up now I fear. But the rain has helped the new plants I planted, and the sod I put down, to get established. Now if it doesn't make in the next three months it might just make it.

The first one I watched was The Empire Strikes Back, and that was at a drive-in (i.e., not first run) and I wasn't even that interested in the movie (if you know what I mean). I didn't watch A New Hope in its first run because I saw it as a "kiddie movie" (probably owing to the marketing of Star Wars merch during Saturday morning cartoons). At 14 years old when it came out, I was "too old" for that stuff.

If you said one of the goalies would steal this series, no way anyone would have said Skinner.
-
Or call it no goal at the time and get it right. As @Taro T said, if the separation is vertical and not horizontal, it could in fact not be in. I watched the replay several times and I'm pretty sure it was in. To me the trajectory looked consistent with far post-crossbar-camera-near post. But yeah, without an overhead look it's hard to tell. The players on the ice all seemed to think it was a goal though.
-
It's pretty clearly in. I suspect it bounced off the camera which gave the illusion that it didn't really go in. But you can see plenty of white between the puck and the goal line, and I don't think it was that far off the ice. That said, I do wish they'd show the overheard shot on goals like that.

5 of the Panthers' skaters are former Sabres, and 1 is the grandson of a Sabre (Steven Lorentz).

Tereshenko earned that goal all game long. He's been working hard, particularly in the defensive zone. A just payoff.

I realized the other thing that threw me off was my wife is done teaching for the year so she was home.

Weird Friday. The long weekend was messed up by losing the AC Sunday night and getting it repaired Monday morning. Then the short week, which was shortened even more when a thunderstorm killed my power and I couldn't work from home on Thursday. Then today; Friday is a normal day off since I work 4x10, but for some reason it feels like Saturday. Now I have another Saturday coming up. If a holiday weekend messes me up that bad, I can only imagine what retirement is gonna be like.

We had a pretty good thunderstorm with strong winds (~50 mph) this afternoon. Lost power for almost an hour (although... oddly, I got a text from the power company saying "There is an outage near you, we are working to fix it" about 10 seconds before the power went out). The thunder is rumbling again so I checked the radar and it looks like just about the same size of front coming through. Two in one day. Unusual. Edit: On the plus side, a laid down some sod last week. All this rain is good for it. And the temperature is 66°F, very cool for late May. It's typically highs in the 90s and lows in the mid-to-high 70s. A few days ago it was 85°F at this time of night.

Wait... where's Rasmus Asplund in that roster?
