  1. He's a fourth liner according to Daily Faceoff. I like him as a player, but we just stocked up with other bottom sixers like him.
  2. Doesn't redeem you. Sorry.
  3. You could say having a wealth of prospects that are similar is a good thing: Trading Savoie had very little impact on our organizational depth at forward. I think that was me but I don't care. I'm rockin' a summer cold and it sucks.
  4. To put it another way: If he had developed more quickly and had become our 3C himself, we'd be happy. Either way, the pick turned into our 3C (and another prospect to boot). I'm happy.
  5. The player the Sabres got in exchange for Cole Hutson. That should clear things up.
  6. I mean, he hasn't even had the customary double hip surgery yet.
  7. I'm sure there have been conversations between Appert, Lindy and Keyvn, as well as the scouting department. But again: 6 games is not a valid sample size.
  8. Ppg in the AHL? He scored 5 points in 6 games. Not a ppg Ridiculously small sample size
  9. Who cares? Get the best assets you can. They become trade capital. Why all the hand wringing? I think a lot of fans are too plugged into the NFL draft. The NFL drafts mature prospects that are ready or nearly ready for NFL play. The NHL drafts true prospects before a lot of them even need to shave and have to develop them into NHLers. Not everyone an NHL team drafts is ever going to play on the team that drafted them. They become assets that may play for the team, may be moved to another team to get a needed asset, or may not even pan out. Savoie is a good prospect but he still hasn't played more than handful of games in the AHL and in big tournaments has been overshadowed by allegedly lesser players.
  10. And the reason Savoie is now EDM's best prospect is that their prospect pool isn't that great.
  11. He's clearly not Buffalo's best anymore. But your point is accurate; he wasn't even before the trade.
  12. ...and suddenly he's a second liner, not a fourth liner that was bumped off the roster by Okposo?
  13. This really struck me as significant at the time. At the time I felt that it was a case of Benson being really special and having a more mature (smarter) game. I didn't really see it as significant. But in the end the Cup went to a team that plays fast, tenacious, two-way hockey.
  14. I think Bryson's game is more complete than Clague's. He logged a lot of minutes late last season and was rarely winceworthy.
  15. Further down in the comments:
  16. Fine then. Comparison to Forsberg is laughable too.
  17. The plan was to get the best player you could at that draft position because that will help your team.... somehow. It's not always because that player will play for your team. Yeah, I edited to read "poster". Cuz I suck.
  18. He was one of several high draft pick forwards on the team. Not all of them are going to make the team. Benson made the NHL roster out of his first rookie camp and acquitted himself well as an 18-year-old. Savioe is obviously not on that same level. You could have moved one of several of the forwards listed in this thread to fill the 3C hole. I don't think it's that the Sabres soured on him, I think it was just a case of he got us the 3C we wanted. Greatest sax riff ever?
  19. To trade them for other players you need.
  20. Comparing Savoie to Forsburg is laughable.
  21. You seriously have the worst takes of any poster on this forum. Yikes.
  22. This has been my issue since Casey was moved. He was built-in depth for the top six already on the roster. On the other had, We haven't seen how McLeod or any of the other acquisitions play under Lindy. That, and one of Lindy's talents is line adjustments.
