Paxlovid seems to be working. I'm not sick but I'm not well.
-
But that's not really an option, is it? I was just countering the point made that Comrie was .905 trash. Maybe he's not consistently a .920 goalie, but he's trending the right way.
-
So I'm on Paxlovid now. A little metallic taste in my mouth (as some people warned about). The nurse at the dr's office recommended lemon drops and they do mask the taste.
-
A conservative assessment. I think it's likely that he's better than the others.
-
Last season: Ullmark - 158gp, .917 sv% Comrie - 28gp, .920 sv% That's exactly what happened last season.
-
And I'm okay with that. Sports is results based. Until they have a body of work to be proud of, no one is going to think they are any good.

Basically feels like a headcold: Headache, runny nose, coughing, sore throat, perpetually tired. I didn't want to get dehydrated so I downed a Gatorade and now I can get to sleep but wake up every hour to pee. I'm taking OTC cold medicine and it alleviates the symptoms.

Looks like she's accustomed to working with small.... equipment. 😉 Yep. Retook it today. I feel like ***** but it's still a negative result. I'm guessing by the end of the week it will tip over to positive. Meanwhile my Paxlovid-addled wife is slowly improving.

I think it's likely that Comrie is close to Ullmark in terms of ability. So it basically resets the goalie situation before Ullmark walked. We still have a vet (arguably an upgrade over the likes of Tokarski) as backup, and still have UPL hopefully knocking at the door, and others in the pipeline.

More importantly, does he have goalie pads if called upon as EBU goalie?

He's a unicorn. He has a unique combination of physical gifts and skills. He *is* altering the concept of what a QB is, sure, but others have done similar things: Kordell Stewart and Lamar Jackson come to mind in terms of gifted running quarterbacks. But Josh is significantly larger than they are. And now, with an improved offensive line, he doesn't have to run as often, and he has more time to make his reads. Taking the running dimension away, he's one of the better passers in the league and is still getting better. Add the running back in and yeah, he's a unicorn.
-
...and Josh is arguably as good as the other two, possibly better.

One last thing: Granato said his first priority was to develop the offense up to now. I expect that to shift; not that he will cut off the offense at the knees but that he will focus more on defense and the development of his young defensive studs. With that shift in focus I think no matter who is between the pipes for the Sabres, they will see improvement.

He didn't talk about Buffalo for very long but he boiled it down nicely.

The Hockey Guy is one of my regular watches. The guy puts out an enormous amount of content for a one-man operation (his wife helps him pull together data for game reviews on busy NHL nights).

Yeah, I think I made that mistake last time. We both had "bronchitis" in November, tested once, came back negative, and that was it. Never thought to retest (that was before we had in-home tests).
-
Finally, Covid in our household. My wife said her allergies were kicking up because of all the ragweed in the air. I suggested she test and she was sure it was just allergies. Then this evening she started coughing so she tested and, she's positive. It says it might take up to 15 minutes but it tested positive instantly. I took a test and I'm negative.

Meanwhile, in heaven...

Annual expectations thread 2022/23: #46 Ilya Lyubushkin

He'll be largely invisible which will be good. He won't be that guy hanging his head when the other team scores because they simply won't score much when he's out there. -
Nah. He *did* follow forum etiquette by posting relevant info from the article. Get over your cheapness. (I got over my personal cheapness long ago.)

I doubt I will make it to the game; my company shuts down between Christmas and New Years; if anything is urgent coming out of the break I won't be able to come up from Texas. On the other hand as I get to the end of the year if there isn't anything pressing I may be able make it but I won't know until late in the year. If there are any tix available then I may get one; more likely I'll just take care of my own ticket and try to meet up with you guys.

In the natural progression of goalies I think Comrie replaces Ullmark. Nothing more, nothing less.
