  1. Never sleep on the Bills. (I was watching at the Bills Backers bar here and if I had a better waiter I would have missed it too. I was going to call for my check but he didn't come around for a while and that got me to stay until things got interesting at the end.) Even then...
  2. Here's one for you: Josh Allen holds the record for the most total touchdowns (passing + rushing) in a player's first eight seasons, with 262 touchdowns through his first eight years in the NFL. Last night's game was the first game of his 8th season, and he already held the record before kickoff.
  3. I am a Blue and Gold diehard, but I have to admit, I certainly don't mind the Black and Red as much as I used to. About a third of the home games are Black and Red, that's fine.
  4. Checking... Next time I'm in Buffalo, the Sabres have an away game in Boston. 😞
  5. Your mom: "I ain't makin' that mistake again!"
  6. Really? Shame on me! Yes, I know how it's spelled. The older I get, the more careless my fingers get while typing.
  7. I went to college in the Albany area. I think part of the problem is that the Capital District is kind of spread out in a tri-city area (Albany-Schenectady-Troy), and there is competition from Siena basketball and Union and RPI hockey, plus local fans are rooting for Boston and NYC NBA/NHL teams. I don't think the local population "needs" another sport to support. I get the sense that NLL exploded in popularity in Buffalo because the Bandits brought championships and the Sabres have sucked ass for so long.
  8. Haha. We had NLL in Fort Worth (Panther City Lacrosse Club). In their last year they drew 2700 per game. When they left the league no one even tried to buy the team; they folded.
  9. Little chance of that. His rooting priorities are Vancouver, Boston and Dallas, so I don't think he'd confuse Daryl Reaugh with Rob Ray.
  10. I would say Detroit's Mickey Redmond was one of the best but as he's gotten older he's lost a step and his knowledge of the game is more and more dated. The other one I like quite a bit is Daryl Reaugh for the Stars.
  11. It's generally the case that the broadcasters are employees of the team. That's not just the NHL, it's most of the team sports in North America. I think the NFL is the exception for television broadcasts but they still employ the radio broadcast employees.
  12. Is he? Sorry if my hopes aren't up. I hope he is.
  13. I think you made the right call. I had done some internet shopping for cars but then my car started to show potentially serious symptoms and I decided not the put the money into it and just go out and buy a car. I know I could have done a better deal and that eats at me but the new car sure does ride nice.
  14. Should have just called it Darth Hyundai.
  15. Hopium springs eternal.
  16. So what did you get???
  17. Of the dogs we've had: Rat terrier mix from Humane Society A very overweight golden retriever from GR Rescue A stray puppy (looked like somewhere between a Pomeranian and a Golden) we took in after it fell into a friend's pool A stray beagle puppy that followed my sons home A stray hound-shepherd mix puppy that also followed sons home A stray heeler puppy that followed my wife home And my son's (who lives with us) dog, a border collie mix from Ft Worth Animal Control They just seem to find us. My wife says when the current dogs cross the rainbow bridge, no more. I'm not ready to accept that but I don't argue with her about it. If nothing else I would like to foster dogs, particularly older ones.
  18. It's the lack of noise that can be unnerving.
  19. They don't have to replace it. They can offset it.
  20. Two ways to make up those goals: Other players score the goals. The goals are prevented by playing better defense. But yeah, goaltending is part of the equation.
  21. This contract won't age well. I predict a buyout four years in.
  22. Oh, I'm not writing him off. Lyons.
