I hated it back the day; I think it was a big mistake to go away from the blue and gold. I also felt like the actual goathead looked kind of bush league, like a WHL logo or something. The fact that people derisively called it a goathead shows that I'm not alone. I was not and am not dying for it to come back but I recognize the throwback does energize the fan base and hopefully the team. I think that the organization has done a good job of reintroducing it to the point where I don't hate it and I'm actually looking forward to seeing the team in those unis.

Happy Transformer Day. 50 years ago on November 8, 1972, Lou Reed's Transformer album was released. I'll be honest, I'm not familiar with most of the songs on the album. Some are good, some not so much, but Reed's most famous song, "Walk on the Wild Side" is on this album. If you're not familiar with that song, here it is. Yep, and the "fading" Red Wings took our spot. It's a horse race early and there are three teams with fewer points than the bottom wildcard team but higher points percentages (including the Sabres). The reason they're out of a playoff spot is their recent losses, but also they have games in hand.

I think he could have been a difference maker in Tampa. He had fresh legs when the rest of the team was on the second game of a back-to-back. I'm actually surprised Donny didn't pull someone out of the lineup to put him in.

This is an off-day skate. I think this might be more of a What If drill than anything Donny plans to trot out, but we'll see.

Toward the end of the last game he was already trying some different combinations. I think maybe he wants all the forwards to be able to mix and match to the greatest extent possible but I expect for the most part the lines will remain fairly static. But if you don't practice with other combinations how can you build any timing/chemistry?

Assuming concussion I expect they'll treat him with kid gloves.

I don't expect those lines to stick but I like that Donny's playing around to see who fits with whom.

I think the turdburger put a lot of people off yellow but if done right I think it could work. (The yellow practice jerseys look okay.)
