  1. That clinched the series. I believe it was the first time a shorthanded goal clinched a playoff series in OT. I think it's as simple as going with the home team.
  2. He's cheap goalie insurance for a team on a playoff run. I could see a fair amount of interest but not a ton of return if they move him. I believe he was offered the choice last season and expressed a preference to stay with the Sabres. They will probably make the offer this season and if he really intends on retiring I could see him getting moved to a serious contender. Or not. I'm talking about the other situation where they've clinched a playoff spot and aren't likely to change their position based on one or two games late in the season.
  3. It depends. Levi is still likely a season+ away from being relevant at the NHL level. Excellent play by UPL or Comrie, and good play by the other, could make Levi somewhat expendable. He's also not playing at the same level he as last season. So if I'm Kevyn I listen to any offers for him but only listen hard if it's something that benefits the Sabres more than Levi *might*. I also don't think they trade him at the deadline; it will be over the summer if they decide to move him. I think it's more likely they trade Comrie than Levi in either case though.
  4. Let's see what the situation is then. Whether they're in a playoff position or not is a different question than how do you fit a game or so in for a 4th goalie.
  5. The refs tend to favor the better team because they tend to have more established, veteran players. I think they are more severe to younger players and players with less talent. This year I think we've seen a shift in favor of the Sabres (in general) as they shift from a bottom dweller to a pretty good team.
  6. Disagree. You're both right, but the bottom line is you have to control your stick. He got several good licks in before he caught the haymaker.
  7. I think if Krebs is on this team long term he's going to develop into "that guy" who likes the rough stuff. Cozens too (and he's 4" taller) but I see Cozens as a playmaker first and a physical presence second. The role Krebs is carving out as an energy guy will naturally involve more physicality.
  8. Yep, just like Jack Eichel will be a Sabre until 2026. 💀 If he doesn't want to be there the Sens will eventually trade him for a Tuch, a Krebs and a coupla picks.
  9. Why not? After the trade deadline, even if we have 3 goalies the 23-player roster limit is lifted. Let him play a game or 5 depending on where you can slot him in.
  10. I see it that way too, but was just sharing what a "disinterested party" thought.
  11. Nope, they were fine. The reachback a moment later to corral the puck may have influenced Shannon's opinion: FWIW, Shannon's rooting interests are 1. Vancouver; 2. Boston; 3. Dallas, and Vancouver sucks this year so he's on the Bruins bandwagon, so that might have colored it a bit too.
  12. I'm gonna go bold: This Sabres team now is the team they had at the end of last season, only better. Ottawa won't know what hit them. 7-1 Sabres, Tage with a hattie.
  13. Then you should love this pic I found on teh intarwebz. ¡Olé! fify
  14. I noticed both this game and the Bahston game were on the road. Isn't it usual that if a team plays on consecutive nights, that one of the two games is on home ice? Interesting they picked Jost as today's poster boy.
  15. I do think it's reviewable by the officials if they choose to review it. If it were pointed out to them, I think they can "get together" and talk it through; not sure if they can do video review. For the pic I posted you can see the player Marchand replaced was nowhere near within 5 feet of the bench when he hit the ice (which is the NHL rule). From your link:
  16. I follow both darksabre and josie on Twitter. When they broke up, Josie stopped posting here out of recognition that this was more "his space." I'm not sure why he doesn't post here anymore, other than I wonder if people asked him about Josie too much (I never did.) It was not an awful breakup and they are still friends. Josie is engaged to someone else.
  17. Shannon The Hockey Guy seems to think they will trade Comrie. "I think Comrie ends up on the market. I don't think you move on from Luukkonen and certainly don't think you move on from Anderson. They've both played really, really well."
  18. The evidence: #6 is Marchand receiving the pass at the blue line; #5 is the player going off that he "replaced."
  19. Yep. I grew up in Buffalo, went to college near Albany (RPI) from 80-84. There were so many things that showed up after that...The Original Pizza Logs, Paula's Donuts, a few other things that escape me at the moment. One of the ultra cool things that I've been blessed with here in Texas is Buffalo Bros, a bar that's a pretty good approximation of a old Buffalo tavern dropped here into Fort Worth, 3 miles from my house, so a lot of the Buffalo foods I would otherwise miss are available to me whenever I'm in the mood, and they're also the DFW Bills Backers bar, so when the Bills play pretty much everyone there is from WNY. (When the Bills played the Cowboys on Thanksgiving in 2019, they had a party the night before and had 700 people there. Forget the headline, this was Fort Worth, not Dallas; I'm in pic 54.)
  20. But why punish him to playing well? I would keep all 3 goalies. Anderson can play the odd game here and there and UPL can be 1A and Comrie 1B. If UPL is the better choice, and the Sabres are in (or very close to) a playoff spot, I think you need to keep him up. I think they carry 3 goalies on the roster until they know who's gonna stay with the team. Don't be surprised if Andy "suffers an injury in practice."
  21. I think it's likely that they keep three goalies.
