  1. No but in the end the ultimate stat is wins and losses. UPL was not holding the Sabres back.
  2. You forgot about the rabbits.
  3. But he does give the perspective of what the rest of the league thinks of the team.
  4. He's a fan of HOCKEY. He has an extensive collection which includes several jerseys from each team. He's not going to wear a NJ Devils jersey (which he has several of) if he's talking about the Sabres. Of course.
  5. Look in the background- he has an extensive jersey collection and wears them in the videos. If he's talking Sabtes of course he will wear Sabres garb.
  6. I just saw that. My first reaction was favorable and then I realized Peca got away. Blergh.
  7. He is a hockey fan, he is not a Sabres fan. He gives a perspective of how other fan bases view the Sabres.
  8. It's one thing to make grammatical errors on a message forum. It's something else when you're trying to monetize that and call yourself a professional writer. Professionals use editors. I disagree with this point (although I know some Sabrespacers agree with it): Mitts is basically a top-6 player playing on the third line. He was tapped to be 1C in October 2021 before getting injured in the first game, opening the door for Tage. The emergence of Tage, though, doesn't take away from what Mittelstadt provides. As a play maker, he makes the 3rd line more dangerous. But as we saw last year he can also step in as C on a top line with little or not drop off for that line. I mean this literally when I say trading Casey Mittelstadt could cost the Sabres a playoff berth. I don't think the writer understands that. Let the record state that I never said this article should not have been linked, by the way. I'm just picking on the "Writer's" grammar.
  9. For someone who calls themselves The Hockey Writers, you would think they would, you know, write better. "As things currently sit, Buffalo’s defensive core is Rasmus Dahlin, Owen Power, Mattias Samuelsson, Henri Jokijarju, Ilya Lyubushkin, Jacob Bryson, Riley Stillman, and Kale Clague." The word he's looking for is corps. Defensive corps. Corps means a body of people. Core means the central part. One might say that Dahlin and Power are core of the defensive corps. But don't call everyone through Clague our core defensemen.
  10. Anyway, I watch a lot of his videos. During the season he literally previews and reviews every single game, and watches as much action from as many games as he can. And he puts out other material (such as a retrospective of Craig Anderson's career last year) during the season. Shanon has no special access to information, just what a normal fan sees, and it's interesting to me to see his takes on the Sabres versus what you hear in the echo chamber of the fan base.
  11. What happened to the earlier thread about this video?
  12. They only way it might draw is if they offered the corpse of Pat Kane a contract and he accepted it.
  13. I'm just sayin' the team is over NHL .500 with him in the net, which isn't bad for a backup. Fancystats be damned.
  14. And for the UPL doubters: He was clearly inconsistent and streaky last year, but the Sabres *did* earn points at a 89 point/82 game clip when he got the decision. Not quite playoff caliber, but if he's #2, that's not bad. If he's with the big team on Day One and doesn't miss much time due to injury there's reason to believe he will be at least that good if not better.
  15. Not sure how Levi, who only played 7 games, is "same goaltending".
  16. Really? Wow. They should put a team in Batavia. Draw from the locals, plus Ra cha cha and Bflo.
  17. I think Kevyn does in fact have a plan and I wouldn't get too warped until we see what the opening night roster looks like. An alternative view: If Levi and UPL both hit this year we'll be set in goal for a while at a team-friendly cap share. Is there risk involved? Of course. But the reward could be worth it.
  18. I wish I could fake in a giraffe instead of the lion...
  19. Vinnie Hinostroza: The Matt Ellis of JAGs. Good luck in Pittsburgh.
  20. Good for Vinnie. He's a good, JAG-level guy.
