  1. So Carolina signed William Carrier, Eric Robinson and Tyson Jost, all ex-Sabres (though Carrier has played the majority of his career in Vegas). Let's see how Robbie and Jostie work out for them.
  2. I could see how, there is any truth to this, it would sour his reputation in the org. Probably doesn't reflect well on Krebs either (unless Krebs didn't miss curfew and plausibly denied culpability).
  3. I know, right? I remember when they came into Texas I was kind of excited because in Detroit it really was good pizza, but it's basically no better than pizza you get at a chain gas station like QT or RaceTrac. Edible but not a treat.
  4. Little Caesars here in Texas is true bottom-feeder crap, but in the metro Detroit area it's significantly better. Their pan pizza in Detroit is a pretty good Detroit style. Here in Texas it's a weak shadow of that.
  5. It's almost like we're at the wrong end of the human centipede.
  6. Oh it's most definitely a pizza. Think of it as halfway between Chicago deep dish and classic Buffalo pizza. In a square pan. Buffalo pizza is my favorite style, but Detroit is a great change up once in a while.
  7. No, it's a square-panned, deep dish variant. Not as extreme as Chicago deep dish, and generally kind of crustless as in the cheese goes all the way up to the pan and gets a nice browned edge. Check out the link in Promo's post for an idea. It's pretty good.
  8. Yeah, maybe it will work for them, but I also think they probably need to look at team defense.
  9. OMG just do that right now. RIGHT NOW. I mean, I like Clifton but we've got defensive depth to replace him.
  10. Could that not have been deployment problem? How often did the Oilers do that throughout the season? Did it work? Maybe the reason the scoring was that concentrated is that other players just didn't get the ice time at critical junctures.
  11. Interesting. So at this point they probably value Rosen and Östlund (and Kulich and Helenius and maybe Wahlberg) higher than they valued Savoie. Not necessarily. It's not that the Sabres gave up on him, it's that they thought he could best get what they wanted by trading him.
  12. Perhaps, but maybe the correct answer was to shore up the defense?
  13. If he's playing with Quinn and Cozens his 2-way game doesn't concern me much. Quinn's is very good, Cozens' is passable.
  14. When I was a kid we'd get pizza from Roma Italian Restaurant on Genesee Street just west of Union (now 33 Speakeasy Grill). Small was $2.50, large was $3.50; add 50 cents for pepperoni. We'd ride over on our bikes and carry them home. We didn't drop them.... usually. My first job was as a dishwasher there.
  15. I think it's likely that Greenway is a "transitional" guy. He's signed for one more year. I don't think he'll be a Sabre beyond that.
  16. Slow rebuild? Maybe, but we just turned over nearly half our forward ranks (and maybe more before the season starts). Doesn't sound slow to me. Slow rebuild perhaps, but Lindy's influence is giving it a kick start. Can anyone picture Kevyn moving up to an executive POHO kind of role, and Lindy moving up to GM eventually?
  17. Incorrect. They're only paying him $3 million. The Sabres bought him out; he'll be on the Sabres' books for some time.
  18. With the Oilers and the focus on McDavid and scoring, I can see what the fan base would be sour on a guy that doesn't score that much and not look for his other talents.
  19. Yeah I was gonna mention baseball too but I felt like I'd already blathered on long enough.
  20. Same reaction here, but the answer is simply He got a lot out of Afinogenov, why not Zegras?
  21. So yeah.... what numbers do you think the new guys will wear? Zucker was 16, retired by Sabres (Pat LaFontaine). Zucker has only ever worn 16 McLeod was 71, last Sabre to wear 71 was Olofsson. McLeod has also worn 70 Malenstyn was 47, last Sabre to wear 47 was Malcolm Subban. Malenstyn has only ever worn 47 Lafferty was 18, retired by Sabres (Danny Gare). Lafferty has also worn 37, 24, 28 Aube-Kubel was 96, last Sabre to wear 96 was Anders Bjork Bjork Bjork. Aube-Kubel has also worn 62, 16 Zucker and Lafferty will wear have to pick new numbers Do you think any of the guys who can keep their numbers will change to something else? My guesses are: Zucker: 61 McLeod: 71 Malenstyn: 17 (I have a feeling 47 was assigned to him but who knows?) Lafferty: 28 Aube-Kubel: 96
  22. Reports/rumors make him one of the best players available via trade right now, and Buffalo has been cited as an interesting trading partner. I don't see Kevyn giving more for Ehlers than he got for Eichel and the rumor is they want 4 first round equivs. Kevyn won't go that high.
