  1. As I recall, WPHD only did that on the overnights, but I memba.
  2. Minutes when my window makes water more wet may work more when moving within my work mood winces.
  3. It makes sense. He said wanting to spend more time with family and as a consultant he can be FLA based and do some of the work virtually (i.e., calls with Levi and the other goalies) while visiting Buffalo in person a few times during the year.
  4. Good for Andy. A true class act and a consummate professional. I think they may have done this already but not made a big announcement. He was here for training camp and I would not be surprised to see him around here periodically, especially if he's signed some kind of contract as a part time conultant/coach.
  5. Interesting to see so many *real* Mexican places in WNY. Where I live in Fort Worth, I'm on the edge of a true barrio and there is a good variety of Tex/Mex and true Mexican, where they may or may not speak English and the prices are super cheap. There's actually a mall out here that has been converted over to a Mexican mercado- La Gran Plaza- only 3 miles from my house, which is the heart of the south Ft Worth barrio. There's another barrio area north of downtown near the old Stockyards. The northeast corner of my neighborhood:
  6. I'm trying RyJo. I think that makes it clear with the minimum number of letters.
  7. Last time we were in Buffalo we met some friends for lunch at Aguacates on Elmwood. It was pretty authentic stuff, based on what I get here in Texas. As I said the GDT, I grew up around the corner from there, although back then this location was a bar. My first job was down the street at Roma's which is now 33 Speeakeasy. I'd kind of like to try Los Mayas at some point, just cuz it's in the old hood.
  8. I grew up around the corner from there. Of course it wasn't Los Mayos back then, it was a bar. My first job was at 33 Speakeasy back when it was Roma's Restaurant.
  9. It's basically a story that's very strong on sweetness. I hate most glurge but for some reason animal glurge gets me every time.
  10. Or maybe they are two of the top three goalies because they opened against the Sabres. Just sayin'. Agreed.
  11. If you're into animal glurge you've probably seen this. But if you haven't this might give a smile or even give you a few happy tears.
  12. Olofsson is still on the roster. As much as you would like it, he's not going anywhere this season. We still have three goalies too.
  13. General comment on the alumni culture thing: Recent alums are not the players you want influencing this team; their culture was one of losing and suckitude. The experience of older alums is not as relevant to the players of today (reference remarks upthread about smoking and boozing, etc.) There is a sweet spot, maybe the late-90s to mid-2000s, where the alums would be a good influence, but even they are a case of a couple of brief periods of success interspersed frustration and failure. The original comparison to what the Bruins are doing isn't really valid in that the Bruins have had a pretty consistent history of winning or at least being a good team most seasons. The decade of Sabres futility warrants wiping the slate clean and starting from the ground up with the players that are right here, right now, and Kevyn and Donny are doing just that. Okposo, Anderson, EJo, are the "alumni" we want influencing and teaching this group of kids, notwithstanding the fact that Okie and EJo are current players. When Kevyn traded Eich, it was a clear demarcation that the Sabres were cutting off the old times, the old ways, and moving forward. At this point I think that's the way to go, and looking back is too fool of potholes, frustration and disappointment. This is a new Buffalo Sabres. There are touchstones to the past (recorded RJ announcements at KBC, the Let's Go Buffalo chant, but even the chant has been given a new spin with the big drum and bringing in someone to "lead the charge" or whatever its called.) I've been a strong proponent of the blue and gold color scheme but in keeping with this being a New Buffalo Sabres team, I wouldn't even be that upset if they switched to black and red. It seems to suit their personality better somehow. Okay I'll stop rambling now.
  14. When I wrote my original comment on the subject I was thinking of the waiver thingy but forgot to mention it. When you brought it up I remembered something about 30 days. But I honestly don't know about how all that works plus I'm apparently only remembering things in small increments these days.
  15. You're right, there's also the waiver issue, but if they cleared waivers at the season's start, they don't have to clear waivers again for 30 days, innit? They can just be sent back down? (Or are beginning-of-the-season waivers different?)
  16. I can already see the improvement. He had a couple of gaffs yesterday (like getting caught in between on the first goal and not preventing the pass) but really if Krebsie covers the slot a little better that would not have been an issue. On the whole I thought Clifton played well last night, especially after Muel left the game (as did Johnson).
  17. The line of thinking goes: The Sabres didn’t dominate time of possession as the SOG would suggest. Shot attempts (Corsi) were actually dead even. So, more of an even game than one the Sabres controlled. I would say based on my eye test, the truth is somewhere off from that. Perhaps the Bolts had so many missed shots because of pressure from Sabres defenders.... or something like that? So yeah, the Lightning got a lot of shots off but not nearly as many quality shots on goal because the Sabres were harassing them and preventing open shots.
  18. You do realize that the first 2 games the Sabres were hot trash all around?
