  1. I do like McDaniel's imagination and challenging of some of the assumptions of Basic Football, but I don't think he understands Basic Football as well as other coaches so when an opposing coach figures out how to counter his gimmicks, he's got nothing.
  2. (I don't follow.) It was a reference to this exchange on the last page: I can't agree until he wins it all. I'm not ready to call McDermott great, but to my eyes he's clearly better than McDaniel.
  3. Just because you're on IR doesn't mean you can't practice with the team. Some injuries require working out with the team as part of the rehab. Also, they said he was out week-to-week but I think they're still within the roster limit if he gets activated (23 man roster- the players who played last game plus Lil J, Okie, VO).
  4. Compared to him I tend to agree with @nfreeman about McDermott as a coach.
  5. Week to week. Last week was a different week I guess? There's a difference between practicing and playing too.
  6. TBH if Greenway's still sick I wouldn't mind seeing KO in his spot. The speed of Mitts and Benson would cover for him, and he's still got some wily veteran skills.
  7. I've tangled with him enough to put him on Ignore after he kicks my ass, yeah.
  8. Dolphins getting paid back for last season's Heat Stroke Bowl. Karma's a bitch.
  9. We know Greenway's been ill; I wonder what's up with VO? Did he catch the bug, or is he on the trading block?
  10. Oops, NFL Network....
  11. To the victor goes the spoils. 😄
  12. Not quite. More like the old men telling the young men they don't know *****.
  13. This morning? Sleeping. I'm sure they slept in after traveling home.
  14. That's probably why the NFL is embracing the Swifties. Well you are a wee bit daft, so that checks out.
  15. Girgensons pointed out in his postgame presser that the fact that it took Pittsburgh 1:52 to score was huge because the Pens didn't have enough time left to perhaps score a second goal on that same power play. To be honest, I missed that moment of the game so I didn't see what the penalties were. The first one was called and before the whistle blew, there was a second penalty. It sucked, especially because without that, UPL may have gotten a shutout.
  16. This exchange got me to thinking: doubtful Who's the geezerest person on Sabrespace? If you want to play along, post your age. I know for sure I'm not the oldest guy around here; I'm 61.
  17. They should stay over at Casey's house for a coupla weeks.
  18. He definitely looks like he's miserable but happy to get the win. I'm glad they've got a couple days off before the homestand so hopefully he'll be fully recovered.
  19. Damn. Did you see the post game presser with Tuch? He looks like hell. https://www.nhl.com/sabres/video/alex-tuch-postgame-at-pit-6344421133112
  20. And the victory sabre passed from goalie to goalie. I could get used to that.
  21. There were a few periods when the Sabres just couldn't clear the zone, but to their credit, neither did they lose their defensive structure in the zone. As far as all three pairs being solid, I think one way to protect them is to play aggressive offensively, as in make that long outlet pass. I think with their "focus on defense" earlier this year, all three forwards were staying closer in, and those "passes" turned into icings, or into weaker passes (i.e., didn't want to ice it) that were intercepted. The aggressive counterstrike offense actually is a good defensive tactic. Now that they're back to run & gun we're seeing that.
  22. Let's not get too ahead of ourselves. We know both our guys are capable of great goaltending. Now let's see if they can cut back on laying an egg now and again.
