Trade: C Ryan McLeod - Oilers for Matt Savoie

Incorrect. They're only paying him $3 million. The Sabres bought him out; he'll be on the Sabres' books for some time. -

With the Oilers and the focus on McDavid and scoring, I can see what the fan base would be sour on a guy that doesn't score that much and not look for his other talents. -

Yeah I was gonna mention baseball too but I felt like I'd already blathered on long enough. -

Same reaction here, but the answer is simply He got a lot out of Afinogenov, why not Zegras?

So yeah.... what numbers do you think the new guys will wear? Zucker was 16, retired by Sabres (Pat LaFontaine). Zucker has only ever worn 16 McLeod was 71, last Sabre to wear 71 was Olofsson. McLeod has also worn 70 Malenstyn was 47, last Sabre to wear 47 was Malcolm Subban. Malenstyn has only ever worn 47 Lafferty was 18, retired by Sabres (Danny Gare). Lafferty has also worn 37, 24, 28 Aube-Kubel was 96, last Sabre to wear 96 was Anders Bjork Bjork Bjork. Aube-Kubel has also worn 62, 16 Zucker and Lafferty will wear have to pick new numbers Do you think any of the guys who can keep their numbers will change to something else? My guesses are: Zucker: 61 McLeod: 71 Malenstyn: 17 (I have a feeling 47 was assigned to him but who knows?) Lafferty: 28 Aube-Kubel: 96

But if no other GM is willing to pay that price, the price will come down.

To be honest, steady and boring is precisely what the Sabres need on defense.

I was in a dark place at the end of the season. -
He's a fourth liner according to Daily Faceoff. I like him as a player, but we just stocked up with other bottom sixers like him.

Doesn't redeem you. Sorry.

You could say having a wealth of prospects that are similar is a good thing: Trading Savoie had very little impact on our organizational depth at forward. I think that was me but I don't care. I'm rockin' a summer cold and it sucks. -

To put it another way: If he had developed more quickly and had become our 3C himself, we'd be happy. Either way, the pick turned into our 3C (and another prospect to boot). I'm happy. -
The player the Sabres got in exchange for Cole Hutson. That should clear things up.
-
I mean, he hasn't even had the customary double hip surgery yet.

We have cap room and a spot -- to get Tkachuk, what would you now give up?

I'm sure there have been conversations between Appert, Lindy and Keyvn, as well as the scouting department. But again: 6 games is not a valid sample size.
