  1. And so far, Robinson is helping us more than Kane is helping Detroit. (Although to be fair, Detroit's woes are more about players that should be on their active roster but aren't right now.)
  2. We can talk about whether Cozens is 2nd or 3rd C, but in general I'm pretty happy with our center spine. When Tuch, Greenway and Quinn are back, Cozens will be fine. With Tuch returning... tonight?... I wouldn't be surprised to see Tage back at center with lines like: Skinner - Tage - Tuch Benson - Mitts - JJP Jost - Cozens - Olofsson Robinson - Krebs -Okie I wouldn't be surprised to see the centers jumbled up though. Maybe Mitts stays on Line 1, maybe start Tage out centering the 3rd line while he adjusts back to center.
  3. It makes sense, but for some reason I figured all special teams goals didn't count, but shorties make sense.
  4. The Twitter reaction is that people from Maryland/north of DC are up in arms because the new site is too far away. It's 6 miles, just a few stops down the Metro.
  5. Interesting background. I wonder if the whole Potomac Yard thing is a ploy to force the Capital One Arena updates?
  6. Yes, just south of Reagan National Airport (DCA), at Potomac Yard at the north end of Alexandria. I've actually been to the site of the new arena. The site is currently a large strip mall anchored by a Target. For people flying in to see a game you could feasibly walk from the airport to the arena, and there are already a bunch of hotels nearby in Crystal City (immediately west of the airport). I've been to Crystal City for business and typically I walk from the airport to Crystal City, and I've walked from my hotel to dinner in Alexandria. (It's a bit far for most, a mile to the hotels, maybe a mile and a half to two miles from Crystal City to Potomac Yard.) But for the less pedestrian adventurous, there are Metro stops at all those places too.
  7. You have to click it to really see the full picture.
  8. I think the Venn Diagram of "Quinn coming back and continuing his progress" and "Unlikelihood of the Sabres making the playoffs" is two circles not touching each other.
  9. I was talking about the Bills play. My bad.
  10. He was actually across the line of scrimmage when the ball was snapped.
  11. And although he didn't make the save, he still reacted to the deflection and almost got a piece of it with his glove.
  12. Granato credited Jeremiah Crowe I think (director of pro scouting) for bringing him in.
  13. There have been periods when VO looks like a pretty good two-way player. I wrote this a couple of seasons ago: And that's the frustrating thing about Olofsson... and people have been saying this for years: When he's good, he's good, but he disappears for long stretches.
  14. We'll see how the acquisition works out, but so far he seems to be bringing the potential out of Krebs. Even if Robinson doesn't stick, if he helps unlock Krebs it will be a good trade. And I don't know, maybe this is just something good teams do: Bring in new energy players from time to time to bring a boost to the bottom six- guys who may be on their last NHL stop and play with the energy, determination and desperation of a guy trying to keep his NHL career going. Temporary fixes, but they bring infusions of energy to the team.
  15. I heard the NFL was looking into his and Reid's criticism of the officiating. This statement was probably his "settlement" in lieu of being penalized for criticizing the officiating. (It's one thing to criticize a bad call; it's something else to take officials to task for a call the officials got right.)
  16. My wife, a Red Wings fan, is pissed that they signed Kane. She doesn't like him and thinks he's a waste of a roster spot.
