  1. It was maddening to watch the defense in their own zone, with full control of the puck and a clear lane to pass or at least clear the zone, but instead they pass it laterally and the Blue Jackets just take the puck away. This is like pee wee level stuff that they're screwing up. Everyone on D all the way up to Dahlin is doing this tonight.
  2. My son and daughter-in-law showed up for dinner so I'm just getting to the game. To catch up.... and
  3. You're talking about acquiring a goalie; I'm talking about moving on from one.
  4. Well then he's on the perfect line right now. 10-12 minutes for a few games until he gets his legs back.
  5. most important player =/= captain. I don't get captain vibes from Dahlin. I don't think he wants it, I don't think the team would respond well to it. I think he sets a good example to follow but I feel that somehow making him captain would ruin that. I will also acknowledge that the vibes I'm talking about may simply be cultural differences. Cozens or Tuch act like captains to me, but maybe Dahlin would be better. I think part of being a captain is being a motivator and I think Tuch and Cozens exude that more than Dahlin. Overt motivation might be different from motivation by example and maybe a more understated style from Dahlin might still be effective.
  6. To be honest I'd rather see Krebs on that 3rd line; I think he's more likely to be able to make that a scoring line than Jost. (Prove me wrong, Jost.)
  7. I..... I don't know what this is supposed to mean. The bolded conditions guarantee us a loss.
  8. We'll see. It's a bit of a gambit: Maybe Tage and Tuch won't look great coming off their injuries right away but as long as they don't suffer a setback, "rehabbing" in the NHL may get them back up to speed quicker, and possibly the same with Quinn. Are they rushing Quinn back? I've seen reports on Sabrespace that it's a 4-6 month recovery and he's right at 6 months now. Also, is the recovery time any shorter because Quinn is so young? I dunno, maybe.
  9. Yep, that's the frustrating part. Part of the frustration is at this point, we don't even know if it will work. Hopefully in a year or two we'll see progress being made, but it feels like the build has stalled out. Maybe it's growing pains for bringing too many young players in too quickly, and eventually they'll find their legs.
  10. But the point is- you can't predict ahead of times which ones will bloom and which will thud. When we picked him up I seem to remember someone did a comparison and he looked comparable to Hasek with Chicago. It was worth a shot. It's frustrating I know, but Kevyn's whole philosophy is based on value contracts in order to build a roster that provides sustainable performance.
  11. I'm not saying they're definitely making a move but yes I'm sure he's always out there doing "due diligence" just in case the right deal comes up.
  12. A quick survey of goalie injuries reported this month: Anaheim- John Gibson - Dec 18 - Out indefinitely - Personal (birth of child) (Calle Clang, Lukas Dostal on roster) Dallas- Jake Oettinger - Dec 18 - Out indefinitely - Lower Body - (Matt Murray, Scott Wedgewood on roster) Detroit- Ville Husso - Dec 18 - Ques Wed Detroit- Alex Lyon - Dec 18 - Out indefinitely - Lower Body (James Reimer on roster) Los Angeles- Pheonix Copley - Dec 18 - Out indefinitely - Lower Body (Cam Talbot, David Rittich on roster) New Jersey- Vitek Vanecek - Dec 17 - Ques Tues - Undisclosed (Nico Daws, Akira Schmid on roster) Seattle - Philipp Grubauer - Dec 10 - Out indefinitely - Lower Body (Joey Daccord, Chris Driedger on roster) Toronto - Joseph Woll - Dec 9 - Out indefinitely - Ankle (Martin Jones, Ilya Samsonov on roster) Vegas - Adin Hill - Dec 17 - Ques Tues - Undisclosed (Jiri Patera, Logan Thompson on roster) I grayed out the Questionables, assuming they are short term. But there are teams that may be looking for help. I'm sure the Sabres are looking at each team's situation and trying to see if there's a mutually beneficial deal available involving Comrie.
  13. Pancho Billa (Ezra Castro) was perhaps the most dedicated Bills fan ever. He was born in El Paso and was living in Dallas when he passed away. RIP Ezra
  14. I said basically the same thing on that play.
