  1. Maybe? Isn't that why they brought Ventura in? Not sure how much influence analytics has had on recent acquisitions. It was more of a joke than an actual statement of fact though: If the Sabres were built based on analytics rather than traditional scouting, it would follow that they would look very good analytically but that does not necessarily lead to winning. Haha. Get it? Haha.
  2. Methinks you are suffering from the shiny new toy effect.
  3. And that last one invalidates their statistical method. 😉
  4. Matches the eye test, actually. He's been playing very well. This is what happens when you let the analytics department build the team. The team looks great but still loses.
  5. No, I think they'd have to fill from the active roster. I wonder if Kozak has ever played D.
  6. I thought a few times last night that he made some good plays but didn't post about it. Offensively he was very good and defensively he didn't make glaring errors.
  7. Who, in this thread, is discussing the University of Pittsburgh (I mean besides you)?
  8. The Sabres don't have a problem at goalie. All three are competent, but not great. The problem is that goaltending is occupying too many roster spots. The solution is not necessarily outscoring the problem; it's just playing better defense. The Sabres didn't allow only one goal because UPL stood on his head; it was because they played a more responsible defensive game in front of him.
  9. University of Pittsburgh is called Pitt because Pitt is an abbreviation for Pittsburgh. It is a valid abbreviation for the city's name.
  10. The Krebs hit is part of that swarming/speed game. It comes with the territory. But.... unlike being an isolated incident, the rest of the team is now jumping to each other's defense, another part of that swarming style. Well right now they have none, so...
  11. Yes, our AHL/bench depth consists of properly developed players ready for the NHL, not high draft picks rushing into the fray out of desperation.
  12. This is the difference in having everyone playing on the line they should be playing on, and not having to play up a level.
