  1. Just wait until you hit 60 and put your back out tying your shoes.
  2. So I was running late this morning. The freeway was slowing down so I hopped off to take the surface streets. I got off the freeway a little earlier than I typically do. Most of the roads in the area have a 40 mph speed limit, but the one I got on is 35. I was doing about 45 when I noticed a cop car stopped at a side street 😮 and of course his lights came on and he pulled out behind me. There was another car behind me also. When the cop pulled out behind us, the other car got in the left turn lane and the cop followed him. The light was red at that intersection and I just stayed there, expecting the cop to get on his PA and pull me over too. When our lanes got the green light, the other car and the cop turned left and I continued straight. When I first noticed the other car it was gaining on me so he must have been just over the cop's threshold for pulling someone over, and I just under. I guess. In other news, this is the day my little Fiat hit BOOBS miles.
  3. Well, he was there for the start of the suffering. His first two years with the Sabres were playoff years and then...
  4. I think it's just the yellowish lighting effect that makes the blue Sabres uni look a little greenish. He was a .5 PPG player at the NHL level. Pretty solid.
  5. He also brought the Red Wings their first Cup in 42 years, then repeated with them the following year, and won a 3rd Cup with the Wings a few years after that.
  6. Peyton Krebs: 22 goals, 17 assists as 4C this season. He will be top 3 among Sabres forwards in +/- this season.
  7. The Sabres have 7 million left in cap space. That's a lot. But neither are the Sabres right up against the cap. So, meh.
  8. He looked good, though. Östlund may have suffered from small sample size. It was only 3 games after all. Maybe if they played 3 more he's score 4 points. You don't know.
  9. Actually I'm picking up hints of GEICO Caveman now.
  10. Just a normal Miami afternoon.
  11. The pressure was strong and fast enough that Tua couldn't set up for the throw and couldn't get it past the sideline. Great pressure created that pick.
  12. Dolphins gonna Dolphin. You just have to not panic and over-adjust. Their offensive game is all misdirection and slight-of-hand. If an opponent sticks with sounds fundamentals the Dolphins tend to settle down over a game and become easier to tame. McDaniel plays a very high risk-high reward offense. If it clicks the can put up 70. If you simply play sound football against them, they score 10.
  13. Playing Allen was the best chance to win the game, but he was on a very strict list of what he was allowed to do. He had precisely 2 runs: One was kneeldown at the end of the first half. The other was a 3 yard scramble that Josh normally have split the defenders and run it further, but he slid down as he approached them. They kept him on a tight leash. I honestly think he has a broken finger on his left hand. He had one fumbled snap because of it; otherwise he did okay in a game were he was commanded to take it easy.
  14. McDaniel is all flash and no substance, all trick plays and no fundamentals. Sometimes I think McDermott is too boring in game planning but he always has a team that is good with the basics. McDaniel puts an entertaining team on the field, but try walking before you run all over the place, Mike. I should bookmark this post and just quote it every time the Bills play the Dolphins. Also,
  15. We have group chat for the group that watches the games at the Bills Backers bar and do pregame predictions. Mine was I think the Fins probably would have scored one more TD if Tua wasn't hurt, and the Bills would have countered. Anyway, came pretty close.
  16. The perfect gif doesn't exis---
  17. Life is tough. Get over it.
  18. When I was in high school, I attempted to ride every single street in Cheektowaga. I had a town map and a highlighter, and after every ride I'd highlight the streets I rode on. I never finished it, but I made a serious dent. Along the way I developed some traffic sense. I hate riding out in the country when cars and trucks blow by me at highway speeds and don't give much room. Most of my cycling is in the suburbs/city, and really, on secondary roads and neighborhood streets. I wouldn't cross Cheektowaga on Walden Avenue, but George Urban Boulevard (especially east of Union Road) is okay. Going north, I'd prefer Beach Road to Union Road. When I was in high school I was not averse to riding sidewalks. I've found that they are far more hazardous than most people realize. One of the more severe crashes I've had was on a sidewalk going probably 5 mph. I might use a sidewalk as a transition to get from one road to another, but I mostly ride on the street now. And there is a pretty extensive trail system here in Fort Worth that mostly follows the Trinity River, and is being connected to other trails to allow someone to ride all the way to Dallas on trails. I've picked up tips and tricks over the years. There's a group with good data over at CommuteOrlando and CyclingSavvy (both sites run by the same people) that shows how to negotiate traffic with "Vehicular Cycling" (i.e., driving your bicycle like a car, taking the full lane). I know the principles of that method, but to me that's not a full-time thing, it's just another tool in my toolbox. Just like using sidewalks occasionally. I navigate through the city using the best method for the conditions.
  19. @JoeSchmoe was asking specifically about Texas.
